TRM : concept development

Concept development:

As I stated previously I want to find a way of showcasing toms work in a way yah represents and complements his practice which is what I will try and achieve through the right concept for his work.

Concept one:

'Screen print '

All of Tom's work is screen printed so I feel it would be best appropriate to screen print all the printed ephemera, as if it was digitally printed it would loose the quality, aesthetic, texture and colour of Toms work. This is a definite concept that I should carry forward.

Concept two

'Colour'

colour is something that Tom uses a lot in his screen prints. All of this drawings are drawn black and white and then he adds colour through the medium of ink whilst screen printing. The colours that feature most in his work are fluorescent bright colours with high contrast.

Concept three:

'Detail'

Every single print done by Tom is crammed full of detail. They are not a something you look at once and soak it in, you have to look over and over and overtime you discover something new within the picture. As there is so much going on in the picture I want to find a way to successfully show off all of the detail even on something as small as a business card.

Concept 4:

'Monsters'

All of Toms drawing feature characters that resemble animalistic monster type creates. As they feature so often throughout Toms work I want to use the characters singled out and alone somewhere as this will draw attention to them on their own which in turn will make people notice them deeper with in his work.

Chosen concept:

Instead of choosing just one of these concepts to pursue I have decided to pursue them all and build them into one as I feel they are all relevant to Tom's work and are valid ways of making the branding, identity and promotional good represent Tom honestly and accurately.

Plan:

research into promotional design work
research into screen printing
research into possible exhibitions
beign intial deisgning
