Looking for trouble : Complaints research

Below Is an example of one set of complaints from one city. I have been going through trip advisor reading every comment and highlighting if there are any petty complaints. This is a very long process and it is taking me way longer than I expected which is an indication that this project might have to be extended to an on going project. I will now repeat this process for the reset of the 9 cites on my list

Trip Advisor : LEEDS

The Chambers Park -

* * * * *
Recently stayed at the Chambers and thought it well worth the little extra you pay to have luxury room and living space. Friendly and attentive staff helped the stay become a real highlight after seeing off our son to University. A cut above the rest for style and finishing touches, only slight downside was the refurb work on the scaffolding outside started at 7.30am with builders walking around, my advice would be to at least warn guests staying so they understand the situation. On the whole though, a place that defiantly deserves a return visit.
Room Tip: studio apartments were very good value for money

* * * * *
Stayed at The Chambers for my husband's birthday on the 17th August 2013. I had booked a studio apartment however when we checked in and entered the apartment I was amazed to find out we had been upgraded to a penthouse 2 bedroom apartment with jacuzzi! Was nervous about unpacking in case reception realised they had made a mistake and asked us to move to the apartment I actually booked and paid for - they never did! Service was wonderful so much so when we arrived the receptionist was reading out a full take away menu to a guest on the telephone who then requested she order them a pizza with 1 piece of pepperoni on each slice!!! - the receptionist did this without even batting a eyelid. I had e-mailled a week before our stay to ask if it would be possible to have an ice bucket and a couple of champagne flutes in our apartment and within 5 minutes my e-mail had been replied to and what I had asked for had been confirmed. Very modern and within walking distance to the station and the main shopping area. We parked right outside the Chambers at 1.00pm and paid and displayed for 5 hours for £5 it was then free after 6 and free all day Sunday. All receptionist we passed when entering and leaving were very cheery and helpful (apart from one sour faced young guy who was manning reception on the Saturday evening). Would 100% stay here again and have already been recommending it to friends and family!

I really enjoyed my stay here. The service was excellent and the apartments very nice. Parking also available which worked great.
Only minor gripes was a fair walk from Leeds Arena area of town. Also didnt appear to be air con in my room and it was pretty hot on the July scorcher I was here. They had a remote stand alone cool air blower thing that was very noisy, and didnt really work. I would stay here again though

We spent a weekend in Leeds a few days ago and stayed at the Chambers.
It had very good Tripadvisor reviews and was well located. We only got a 'studio' apartment' and understand that this is the bottom of the range. In actual fact, it was entirely adequate for our stay of two nights.
It is in the centre of Leeds, in the legal quarter. It is an old office building that has been converted. The rooms are spacious with high ceilings. The style and quality of materials used in the conversion gives a superb sense of exclusivity and good taste.
Their business model is interesting. Their charge per night is broadly what you would expect to pay at a good hotel for a weekend stay. I would imagine that the larger part of an hotel's cost base will be in staff costs to prepare meals and to carry out housekeeping and cleaning. They have minimised these costs. Apart from a receptionist, 24/7, we saw no other staff apart from the Manager when we checked out.
The apartment had a kitchenette and there was an honesty bar in the reception. There were a few breakfast items left in the fridge and this sufficed for the first morning's breakfast. When I enquired of the receptionist, who appeared to be the only member of staff on site, I was told that the breakfast supplies would not get replenished. Also, we left a flag on the door to ask for the apartment to be cleaned. When we arrived back in the evening, it had not been cleaned.What's the point of providing a flag to hang on the door handle then? That said, there was no overall cause for complaint over cleanliness.
The public rooms are to the same standard as the apartments but apart from the receptionist, there are no staff around. There is a well stocked honesty bar in reception and a pleasant courtyard where a sherbet or two can be enjoyed.
Pay and display street parking is available outside. It is free after 6PM and inevitably gets very full after this time. Underground parking is offered. This web site says that it is free although this is not strictly true. It is only free for the higher spec apartments. Us plebs had to pay £12 a night. We didn't bother and left the car at our son's place, just up the road.We would stay there again but it should be borne in mind that this establishment is really luxury serviced apartments, rather than an hotel. It is probably better suited to longer stays. If you want to be pampered and to enjoy the 'spa break' type of weekend away then look elsewhere. If you want somewhere luxury that is slap bang in the middle of Leeds, but are willing to make your own arrangements for meals, then this would suit.
Hope this is helpful

We were upgraded from a balcony suite to a penthouse suite on arrival which was a wonderful surprise. THe views we had of Leeds were magnificent and the weather was also lovely so we spent a lot of time staying in the apartment just to make the most of it. For us just a couple of tiny picy things missing i.e. dressing gown and funnily enough teaspoons in the kitchen, but overall the place is beautiful. The staff could not be more friendly and
 accommodating. Nothing was a problem to anyone at all.

I have stayed at the Chambers Leeds twice now and both times were excellent. The hotel is spotless and modern and the staff are fantastic. I could stay for a week and never leave the apartment!!!!
If I have to make one critisism it would be that the kitchen cupboards are too high to reach for someone smaller than 5 feet 4 inches but that would not prevent me going

 again.

* * * * *

The outside of the hotel was ordinary. The moment I stepped into the apartment, I was very impressed with the decor and the atmosphere. Nice furniture and pleasing lighting. There was a living area with cooking facility, a small balcony that can see far away (I was on a higher floor). I stayed there for 11 nights and the maid came once to tidy up the place. I found the most convenient thing in the apartment was a washer machine and dryer (two in one) in a closet.
However, there are quite a few things that they can improve. Although the kitchen facility showed display, it was not so practical to use. Obviously, it was built for pretty tall people. The working and cooking counter top was so the highest I have ever seen, not to mention the cupboard was near unreachable. The light under the cupboard that really got into my eyes and I couldn't see the things on the counte rtop. The kitchen exhaust hood was not working.
In the bedroom, the bed was in such an odd position that I have to close the door in order to get into the other side of the bed. There was no desk, chair and dustbin. They could think it over about the layout of the furniture in the bedroom.

I enjoyed my stay. I will certain stay there again if I am back in the area.

We have just returned from a lovely weekend in leeds for my boyfriend's birthday. I booked the one bed superior apartment with a balcony(room 109) based on the recommendations on Trip advisor. The staff on the main reception greeted us with a warm welcome. We had drove down to the Chambers & when we got there we were told there was a charge of £12 per night to park there but I thought that was abit steep, in most hotels there would be no additional charge. The honesty bar in the lounge was then explained, basically you help yourself to drinks, nachos, chocolate etc and let the reception staff know but the price's are all lot cheaper then the near by bars, I thought this was a fab idea and i wish we had took more advantage of it.The patio area in the court yard is nice to have a drink before going round the local bars. There is also a wide selection of DVD'S & books for you to use while staying there.
Our room was lovely, very chic modern, the lounge area was spacious and the kitchen was well equipped. The breakfast pack in the fridge is a lovely idea but abit random, 2 slices of bread, a tin of beans, jam,butter, a bag of crisip, 2 cartons of juice & a carton of milk !
The bedroom was abit smaller then expected but the bed was lovely and comfy. I was disappointed there was no bathrobes and when we called down for 2 the night porter was quite rude telling me they didnt have any more left! The bedroom also had one bottle of water in the room, 2 would have been a nice touch as there was 2 of us staying there.
The apt also had a washer/dryer in and a dishwasher. All in all the Chambers is a lovely place to stay, its in a great location for shops, restaurants and some lovely bars, we would love to stay there again.

Really impressed with the size of our one bed apartment. Good sized bedroom and large lounge. Nicely decorated with wood floors. Proper kitchen and all the mod cons. Central location and helpful staff (Who actually appear to have been trained).
Small gripes: no air con, bed should be king not queen, bathroom needs an extractor and there was a lack of crockery and cutlery. No teaspoons and one sharp knife. It's also clearly meant for businesses as once you added on VAT the car park and the cot it was a very un-Leeds like £170 a night.
These were small relative to the overall experience mind.
-Dear Guest,
Thank you for your positive review. We are glad to hear that you had an enjoyable stay at The Chambers Park Place.
Around half of our apartments have air conditioning; please request when booking if you would like this and we'll match you up to the appropriate room. All of the beds in the building are UK kingsize double beds (5 feet wide).
All of the bathrooms are equipped with extractor fans which are linked to the bathroom light. These do run silently though - no noisy fan sound!
Thank you for letting us know about the cutlery/teaspoons: we are going to put a little sign in the rooms to let other guests know where to find it. The cutlery is located in a slim silver drawer just underneath the oven. Next time please call Reception if there is anything you can't find and we will let you know where it is!
The apartments are equipped with cutlery, crockery and glasses for 4 people as standard but are happy to provide extras if needed - just let us know.
Thank you again for your review and we hope to welcome you back to The Chambers again soon.
Kind regards,
Nicola Drummond

My fiancé and I stayed at the Novotel on Friday night (10th February) on a Living Social deal, then headed to Chambers for a night on his birthday (11th).
The apartment (we had a double room suite with balcony) was the perfect mix of contemporary and homely and had everything we needed. The L'Occitane luxury products in the bathroom were a nice touch and it was great to have a bottle opener/corkscrew so we could have some wine before heading out to The New Ellington for a meal. We were also able to make our own breakfast in bed the following morning; cereal followed by poached eggs and beans on toast with orange juice! Tea and coffee were also plentiful and I was pleased there was a large teapot to utilise.
The bed was slightly hard for my taste and it took an age for us to work out where the cutlery was (in the metallic-looking drawer under the oven!) but apart from that everything was grand. The blonde receptionist was lovely but the night porter was a bit of a 'grunter' and wasn't one to make small talk.

The staff were happy to keep our bags safely all day on the Sunday (our megabus home was 7.30pm so it'd have been an nightmare if we'd have had to carry them).
All in all, the experience has made me eager to use serviced apartments again and I'd without doubt stay in the Chambers again. Top notch!

Very pleasant apartment, close to centre of Leeds. Comfortable furniture (rather firm mattress). Efficient heating/cooling system. Good soundproofing. Secure parking. A coffee maker would have been useful. We were there three nights and the kitchen bin wasn't emptied - a pity, when self-catering is one of the attractions. Very friendly and helpful receptionist. Would certainly go back again.

I have been working on an interim assignment in Leeds since October 2011, travelling back to home in London for most weekends. Initially I was staying in local hotels but very soon found this to be expensive, boring and very restrictive. Since moving into The Chambers I have been more productive, more relaxed and very happy.
The staff are, without exception, extremely helpful, friendly and professional. The reception area is manned 24/7 and the honesty bar, library and DVD loans all add value to their service, as does the Dry CLeaning & laundry service. I have tried three different rooms before settling on one - each is well appointed with everything I need to prepare a light supper and breakfast every day. Beds are soft and comfortable, the living area is well thought out and the bathroom with walk in shower is large and well designed. The washing macine, dryer and ironing board all help to keep costs down. Weekly cleaning and linen change over is great.
Each apartment is well soundproofed and I have not been disturbed by my neighbours at all. On occasions my wife or my son has stayed over for a couple of days - extra towels were provided immediately on request for them.
Everything is of the highest standard - only two, very minor, quibbles. I would like some coat hooks in the hallway area and an iPod dock to play music from. Otherwise this is a perfect gem.

* * * *

We stayed here for two nights in December 2011. The apartments are in a great location and are well equipped. The staff were very welcoming and very friendly. The apartment was large however appeared to be set up for just one person e.g. only one set of towels however this was soon fixed. The only other downside was the fact there was a smoke alarm fitted right above the cooker. Even using the toaster triggered the alarm (please note we didn't burn the toast!). I would suggest the alarm be moved to a more suitable location. These are just small things, as all in all the accommodation is very good as are the staff.

We stayed at The Chambers Park Place for seven weeks as we waited for our new house to become available, and what a fantastic seven weeks it was!
We had looked at quite a few serviced apartments in Leeds city centre, but from the moment we walked into The Chambers we knew it was the place we wanted to call home for seven weeks. The service was excellent - really friendly yet professional and effective. The best bits of a hotel combined with the best bits of a serviced apartment.
The apartment was really well furnished and had all the things we needed for such a long stay. The bed was comfortable and most of the time we had a good nights sleep - only feedback would be that there was sometime noise as doors banged shut - they would benefit from having better door closers.

Got a one bedroom apartment with my partner last Saturday night. We paid £130.00 plus Vat for the apartment at Riverside West.
On arrival we couldnt get in, there was no "manned" reception in site and it was snowing!. After ringing a number we found taped on to the side of the buzzer we were told someone would come down in a moment to let us in. We were waiting a further 10 mins! Lady arrived very friendly and took us in the lift to the first floor.
(Big electric gates, plenty of parking upon arrival which was good, we parked right outside due to the snow but there is underground parking)
She let us in to the (quite small) apartment, showed us around and left us the key. Theres a big book on the side with numbers to call should you have any questions or problems. Overal apartment was clean - apart from freezer was slightly dirty but we didnt put anything in there- fridge stocked with eggs, beans, 4 slices of bread, some crisps (yes the crisps were left in the fridge), a pint of milk and 2 small orange juice cartons.
Living room- Nice in general although it was let down by the cheap Tesco DVD player. Not something you expect for that sort of price. Lovely set table.
Kitchen- Good applicances, washing up liquid etc however the toaster didnt work properly and my partner had to hold the button down until the toast was ready (in hindsight he found it funny- not so much that morning with a hangover but he did the day after)
Bathroom was good, decent size. Balcony was lovely. Noise wasnt a problem at all.
I probably would revisit The Chambers but possibly to try Park Place or perhaps a two bed at Riverside. I felt the apartment was a little cramped. The web designer did a fantastic job of selling this place!That said, overall 5 out of 5 and would definitely recommend!

This is a great place to stay in Leeds. The apartment was immaculate, very clean and with everything you need. The king size beds are very comfortable. We stayed on the top floor with a balcony and great views over the city. Only minor gripe was a lack of a coffee pot to make fresh coffee but there are loads of coffee shops nearby so not a major problem. The staff are incredibly helpful and friendly. Parking is underneath the apartments which is very handy. Highly recommend The Chambers to anyone.

* * * *

These are fantastic apartments. We stayed here for 8 nights, of which 3 days were spent indoors with sick children with high temperature. But it was even better than being at home because there was plenty of space, a great TV and DVD player, and a great view of the trains approaching Leeds station.
The washer/dryer and free underground car parking were also important features for us, as was the excellent location.
The accomodation is excellent. The staff were very friendly and helpful (although you don't tend to see them, but you can phone them). The kitchen was fully equipped - we even did some baking! The bathrooms have L'Occitane shower gel & shampoo.
My main complaint was the lack of wireless broadband (although I think some other apartments in the building had this). The internet socket didn't work in our apartment.
Also, the blinds on the bedroom windows didn't keep the room dark enough in the early morning, but we remedied this with plastic bin liners stuck to the windows!

Premier Inn Leeds City Centre Leeds Arena -

* * * *

we had a pleasant relaxing overnight stay at leeds arena premier inn the room was well layed out spacious and comfortable, we had an evening meal which was very tasty and more than ample portions. the staff was polite and helpful. the only downside was that the car park is not attached to the hotel so we had to carry our luggage a short distance. value for money i think we paid a good price and it was slightly cheaper because we booked it online

* * *

For what it is, it is great, clean and comfortable. But since none of the extras are there like a mini bar, security box, shampoos and such, I really cant give it a higher rating. Just a few minutes walk to the city centre, the location is good also and it has a mini market/subway next door. The staff were lovely and helpful and they get my highest praise. The bar was nice, did not try the food but others in my party did and they liked the food and it was not too expensive. I stayed 4 nights, second day they did not clean my room, they did fix the situation but the same thing happened the next day, no cleaning and they just said sorry and here are more towels. Odd. Also, I see from other reviews the prices very wildly, I paid 90 pounds when I see some paid 37. But you will be fine here if you are just looking for a place to sleep and I came away happy.

The first thing that struck us about this hotel was the friendly welcome and help we received from the girl at reception. We later found this level continued through the rest of the staff. Food was very good - both dinner and breakfasts. Room was quiet and comfortable but we had some difficulty getting the AC to give a comfortable temperature - it was either too warm or too cold. AC was also a little bit noisy but I've heard worse.
We had originally booked this hotel for the Andrea Bocelli concert in the Leeds Arena (across the road) but it was postponed. As our flights were already booked, we decided to go anyway. From what we could see, it is a perfect location for anyone going to the Arena and still manages to be a 10-minute walk to the city centre. There is also a very handy corner shop next door to the hotel.

* * * *

Stayed here while visiting Leeds to meet up with friends. The bedroom was modern and clean, with a comfortable bed. The staff were friendly, however I was kept waiting for the full selection of food at breakfast to become available, and had to pick my way around dirty and cluttered tables. Very clean however, and would definitely stay again.

* * * * *

We stayed here on Saturday September 7th for the Cohen concert, which was originally due to take place on Thursday September 5th. I had booked the hotel on that date for £35 but the price shot up to £119 on the Saturday. This was more than most 4* hotels were charging in Leeds on that night and some of them included breakfast in their price. However we decided to stay here because of the convenience but I do think the price is exorbitant for what is usually referred to as a "budget hotel". I have stayed in Premier Inns on numerous occasions and normally find them excellent value for money.
Having said that - very convenient location for the arena, the staff are extremely pleasant and helpful, the service is outstanding, the rooms large and clean, and the breakfast is excellent.

* * * * *

Cannot find any fault at all. Friendly efficient staff, spotlessly clean, good nights sleep and very good breakfast. Fantastic location for new Leeds Arena-really is literally just across the road. Within easy strolling distance of City centre and train station. Will be staying here again. Only thing I would say is stay as high up as possible if you want a view out of your window. We were on 3rd floor and all we could see was another building-did not matter as we went straight to sleep and were away again after breakfast but could make you feel a little claustrophobic if you are that way inclined. Having said that I would still give top marks as everything else was superb and not all rooms can have great views!.

* * *

We stay in lots of different Premier Inn but this one so far was my least favourite. Location is excellent for all things Leeds but it lacked the usual warmth you get from a Premier Inn. The Thyme restaurant which is usually fine, at this Premier Inn is really not worth eating at. We wanted an easy meal after travelling with 2 kids and had to wait until 6pm to place our order, the only ones in the restaurant, it was nearly 7pm by the time we got our food and honestly it was just not very well cooked.
The room itself was exactly what you expect from a Premier Inn but the hotel itself felt much more like a Travelodge. I personally will try one of the other ones in Leeds next time.

* * * * *

This is probably one of the best Premier Inns we have stopped at over the years(and we have stopped in quite a lot of the Premier Inns, Travelodges and Holiday Inns ) .
The location is perfect for Leeds City Centre, the shopping is within easy walking distance, the Leeds Arena is just across the road and thew hotel is easy to get to from outside the area.The only slight hickcup is that car parking is across the road and a bit away in a multi-story car park. However, the rooms are spotless and thoroughly cleaned daily. They are spacious with very comfortable beds and of a very high standard.
The staff are excellent and friendly. The service is beyond belief and they really do want to help you. The reception is a mine of information and what they do not know they will find out for you. The computerised booking-in procedure is automatic - its simple, fast and easy to operate as the receptionist rushes over to help you book in. Overall I would say that its been one of our most pleasurable stays in a hotel anywhere in the world.Well done leeds Premier inn Arena!

* * * * *

The rooms were a perfect example of how the Premier brand should look. We booked this hotel because of a convention at the arena across the road so the location was perfect and even though there is no parking on site they offer a discounted rate at a nearby car park. Our only complaint was the waiting time for breakfast. The whole hotel was booked up due to the convention which started at 0930, meaning that everyone wanted breakfast as soon as they started serving. It would have been expedient to have ensured that there were plenty of staff available to cater for this. A minor observation that in no way detracts from this hotels excellence.

I stayed for two nights at Premier Inn Leeds Arena to attend the Bruce Springsteen concert in July I regularly stay with this chain but felt that this experience was a real let down. Firstly the hotel seemed to be cashing in on the fact that the concert was happening and they knew they could ask a premium for fans staying as close as possible to the arena, the price for the night of the concert was significantly higher than the night before despite it being only midweek. Secondly when I arrived to check in (1.5hrs after the official advertised time) I was first unable to use the express check out as 'I had booked with booking.com and there are always problems' and then was told my room was still not ready for me and I had to wait in the bar area for a further 45 minutes. Upon arrival in my room I found the cups with the tea making facilities to be dirty and there was no soap in the toilet dispenser. The room was also quite stuffy and you could not open the window....this was a problem over night as I found the air conditioner to be noisy and disturbed my sleep but without it I was too hot. I was also kept awake by a group of guests...some may have been foreign, running up and down my corridor, banging their doors and talking loudly in the corridors most of the night, when I informed reception nothing seemed to be done as the commotion continued until after 4am. The hotel itself is in a superb location, easy to reach from the station, and next to the arena. There is a good Weatherspoon and Subway/Costa and newsagent right next to it so I had no need to have the expensive breakfast option either. Staff need to remember the 'good night guarantee' when you inform them of issues particularly if they are to expect you to pay a premium price to stay for concerts. I hope mine was an isolated experience!!

* * *

the stay was very convenient, but i will consider options for next year i thought the prices of rooms were not consistent. the price of a room did not include a breakfast ! the prices in the bar were very good

* * *

I stayed at this new Premier Inn hotel for 3 nights and 4 days at the beginning of aug ,13 but was disappointed with the grey & thin towels. A chest of drawers would have been a great asset for 4 days worth of dresses etc for 2 people. The location for the Arena is excellent

This hotel is the hardest to find, using a sat nav. Use a town map instead. The hotel has no parking!! You have to park in a shopping car park, that costs you money and it is about 300yds away. The staff are very professional, but did not go to charm school. The rooms are lovely, but you pay for it. The restaurant/bar is adequate, but the food is something like Little chef. My advice is to go somewhere else, where you might be welcome.

* * * *

In town for a concert at the new Leeds Arena, the location could not be better for that we could see the arena from our room, I would say from the front door it's only 100 meters away. We walked from the train station which took around 10 minutes.
We got a surprise when we went up to our room, it had not been cleaned, bed not made since last people checked out! Not a great start. We had to go back down and get a new room, the new one only had one big towel so had to make a phone call to resolve that.
One all a decent stay and book it quick if you are attending a concert at the Arena

* * *

Great friendly staff who were helpful when checking in and out of the hotel. Shame the same cant be said for the cleanliness of the room as I found multiple black hairs on towels, bed covers and in the bath which was disappointing. Being woken up by the banging of doors and what sounded like cups in the hallway for a long period of time was also quite disappointing and not what I expected for the amount that was paid for the room.

* * * * *

We stay here last night as it was our daughters graduation.
found the hotel really easy to get to and parking was excellent £6 for 24 hours, get a ticket from hotel when you leave.
We booked two rooms one double & one twin, be aware that the twin room is a double bed and a sofa bed made up as a single bed not really what I thought id booked but it was ok. Rooms are big, very clean, with big bathroom lots of hot water for a bath after a long day. Tea and coffee provided, but I would take my own milk next time as its those little tubs and I needed more for my coffee.
we arrived on a really hot day and the room was fully air conditioned which was a relief.
We had an early start to get to the uni on time so had the continental breakfast which had a great selection of food to eat just wished we'd had more time to enjoy it. The cost was £5 each which would of been ok if we'd had time to eat more. The cooked breakfast look lovely too.
For what we paid £29 per room this was a fab hotel and great location for the uni and town, would love to use it again for a weekend away.

Stayed here last night and was very pleased , check in smooth , staff friendly ,room fantastic .
It is just across the road from the stunning new First Direct Leeds Arena ... Which has a great light show all evening .
The hotel offer a dinner & breakfast package for approx £22 & it's really good value for money , the food is good And more than plentiful .
The hotel was beautifully clean however I did find a smear of ? on the exterior of my door :-( . I reported it & it was dealt with promptly Thanks go to all the hard working staff who made my short stay very pleasant xxx

* * * *

This is the first Premier Inn I have stayed in and I was impressed. Normally I go for their budget chain rival Ibis. But comparing facilities I thought the Premier Inn was rather better.
PLUS - large rooms, Radio 3 (even top hotels fail to provide radios for guests), breakfasts, a bath (a lfie-saver on a wet evening), friendly staff
MINUS - bed rather uncomfortable, no proper reception, staff made to recite certain phrases which made them seem like robots; windows did not open

* * * * *

We have just returned from spending four nights at the Premier Inn Leeds City Centre
opposite the Leeds Arena. (Staying in room 210)
Just could not fault the hotel, spotlessly clean, staff was delightful, we had the meal plan,
breakfast and evening meal. Could not fault it. As we are regular stayers at the Premier Inn
We just wish they would change the menu's a little more often.
 They have a really good chef/chef's.We have to return again at the end of the year to Leeds and will be staying at the Premier Inn.

* * * *

This nearly new premier inn is in a handy spot just a short five minute walk into the city.
Rooms and public areas immaculate - and a complete bargain at £29 a night.
Will probably ask for a high room with a view next time - our room looked straight onto what I think was a student accommodation block.
Only slight gripes were the noisy air conditioning and the locked window which had its net curtain on the other side of the locked portion - making the room a bit dark.

Otherwise very efficient and a great choice.
Parked at Woodhouse Car park a few minutes walk away - cheap and convenient

* *

After reading glowing reviews i was very disappointed by my stay. A twin room was booked and didn't expect a double bed and a settee turned into a temporary bed, This bed proved to be very uncomfortable and not what I expected. At other Premier Inns we have always had 2 single beds.
There was a lift out of order which meant waiting quite a while for the lifts that were working.
The room also had no tea or coffee and the shower dispenser was broken and in the bath and empty.
Not impressed and will choose elsewhere next time I am in Leeds.

* * * *

We stayed here as a family of three on a Saturday night. Our reason for visiting Leeds was to indulge in some retail therapy and visit the new shopping centre{ which was great!} On arrival at the hotel, it was very busy at check in, and we were ushered to the self check in desk in a little bit of an abrupt manner, but we got on with it and headed to our room. As usual it was clean, comfy, spacious and perfect for a mini break. The location was ideal, just a little out of the hustle and bustle, but only 10 mins walk to the heart of Leeds. We had a fab weekend, in particular, we enjoyed sampling the yummy cocktails in the new Alchemist bar-which is a must if you are visiting the town! Had a great night sleep, lovely and quiet, and a very delicious breakfast, all hot and fresh, and with superb service. If the breakfast guy had of been on reception when we arrived, this review would have been an excellent!

* * * *

I rejected our first room, I was worried about the restaurant air con outside our window. I have ignored these in the past to my regret at 5:30 in the morning. The staff were obliging and changed our room with good grace. Is it just me, or did we find the only room where the air con thinks it is a fridge. After the forth time of complaining, we were given a portable heater and all was well. All problems can be forgiven due to the standard of the food and the sheer enthusiasm of the staff. Martin in particular keeped the whole of the restaurant entertained.Would I come back and recommend - definitely.

I arrived late and had a route march to a room on the farthest point of the complex. This seems normal when you book online as I have done in the past. No TV remote, no firm pillows despite literature extolling the virtues and then 3 phone calls and 30 minutes wait to resolve the issue

* * *

Nothing flash but then what would anyone expect at this price. It was clean and relatively comfortable but has the usual problem of noisy corridors, it's one up all up in these places!
The shower pressure was very poor and required me to perform some nifty dance moves to ensure full coverage. Even more disturbing than my dancing was the chair by the writing desk. It had been previously repaired and now was a health and safety risk. The joints were opening causing it to rock back, I only sat on it once the used it as a coat hanger. Ironically this was in an accessible room.
We booked an accessible room but there was no offer of help with parking at the booking stage. It was only after we had parked in a nearby multi story car park we were told there was disabled parking under the hotel. Perhaps during the staff disability awareness training they should try pushing a wheelchair from the Merrion car park!

I stayed here for one night whilst working away.
I found the hotel a little tricky to find but once found, it was easy to locate a cheap car park less than a 5 minute walk away which cost £3 for 14 hours.
The receptionist was friendly and assisted me with my check in making me feel very welcome and giving me plenty of information about dinner and breakfast.
The room was fantastic, very comfortable bed lovely sized room and bathroom and great lighting (usually premier inns I have stayed in before have been quite dark)
There was no noise from outisde the room although there was a little bit of noise from the room next door bit I think that was due to an adjoining door, I also wasnt keen on this as although it was locked it was a little disconcerting when staying there alone.
I used the restaurant for dinner and breakfast. The food at both was of a very high standard and the staff were amazing. My only grumble was that it took me over an hour anf 40 minutes from start to finish, the service wad very very slow. This isn't a reflection at all on the fantastic staff who were great, and actually I really felt for them as they were so stretched...just 2 girls serving the whole restaurant one of whom had only been working there 2 months.
The restaurant staff were fantastic, a real credit to premier inn its just a shame they were only the two of them in such a busy restaurant.
Breakfast was fab, usual premier inn buffet style, plenty of choice all fresh and again great staff.

* *

I stayed at this premier inn in Feb 2013. I have stayed in many premier inns including the City Gate Leeds branch and have always had good service, so I was very disappointed to find that this particular branch did not even come close to other PIs. The main issue seemed to be a combination of a lot of guests and a shortage of staff. It took the waiter 10 mins to seat me and sensing they were particular busy I ordered my food immediately to minimise any delay. After one hour of waiting and reminding both waiters several times I was finally told that they had ran out of the particular starter I had ordered, so at the risk of waiting even longer I just had the main course and left. The management’s excuse was difficulties in recruitment which meant they were particularly short staffed. This is not really a valid excuse as if they felt they could not cope with the numbers of people in the restaurant they should have closed it and helped guests find alternative eating arrangements instead of providing such a bad service. The staff generally appeared to be inexperienced and not very proactive which is a shame.
The standard of rooms was good with the usual PI facilities provided like a TV, hairdryer and tea and coffee making facilities. The room was a little cold but reception were happy to turn the temperature up on the heating. Unfortunately I will probably stay at alternative PIs in Leeds in the future.

We had to walk from the train station about 20 minutes up the road to the Premier Inn. Its right opposite the Arena. Its a slightly longer walk than we would have liked, only because we had to drop bags then walk all the way back down to shops, then back up to get changed for evening meal, then back down to eat in the evening etc etc. HOWEVER we paid £29 (+ breakfast) for the room and I would have walked further for that price. Excellent value for money. Room clean, customer service excellent as always. Only issue was the lads next door getting back at 2am being noisy but no fault of the Premier Inn. Breakfast lots of choice and fresh. WOULD RECOMMEND AND STAY HERE AGAIN.

Arrived at 4pm after a horrendous journey (cancelled train replaced by bus!) Had discussed low floor room requirement especially, when booking, but had been put on 5th ?? We refused this and were, eventually, given the room originally allocated - it would seem there is a poor system of communication between staff members. We unpacked then went out for a meal and a look around and came back quite early - but we both had an uncomfortable night as the mattress (surprisingly) was quite hard. Mentioned this the following morning and asked for a mattress topper - found a single duvet and extra pillow had been 'dumped' in our room when we returned! We put this on the bed ourselves that night and I slept a little better but my husband didn't. We hadn't noticed, till we made the bed, that one of the castors was broken off! The hand basin soap dispenser was broken when we arrived - and not fixed (fortunately we had a tablet of soap of our own).The shower plumbing made a dreadful noise when in use - but we were informed that the 'resident' plumber could not do anything about it ?? The room was frequently cold despite the heating control being turned up to 24 (Never - wish I'd taken a thermometer!) Breakfast in the attached restaurant was delicious and relaxed with the waitress service for cooked items (toaster must be expensive to run and is inefficient - a multi-slice pop-up toaster would be better) The bar area was welcoming and comfortable for a nightcap. ALL the staff we met, hotel and restaurant, were very pleasant.

Stayed here in a family room. Room was large spotless and comfortable. Staff were friendly and v helpful. Ideally located for visiting leeds for shopping etc. well worth a visit . Breakfast great but my 12 yr old would have liked hot chocolate as a choice! But breakfast is great

This hotel is a fifteen minutes walk from the railway station . It is straight across the road from the new LEEDS ARENA with a little supermarket next to it and a much larger MORRISONS supermarket 5 minutes away.
Upon arrival we were greeted by a very pleasant member of staff who explained how to work the automated check-in system. Our room was large with plenty room to walk around and it also had an immaculate en-suite. To be fair, the whole hotel was immaculate.
If I had one very small compaint it would be the cleaner knocking on the door at nine o clock in the morning and again at ten o clock to see if the room was empty.Check out is twelve o clock. The very attentive staff ordered us a taxi upon request which turned up in

 minutes.I will definitely use this hotel again, but I guess once the Arena opens prices may well rise!

Absolutely fantastic hotel! Great location. Friendly staff who couldn't do enough for you. We were allocated a family room and this was nice and big and even had a view of the Civic Hall. Despite the hotel been fully booked and it's location on a busy road in Leeds we had a really good nights sleep and we were not at all affected by any noise. Their were only minor problem things if I am being really picky - 1. there is never enough milk and coffee supplied in premier inn rooms! 2. the door of the hotel room could have done with a covering on the bottom as the corridor light which was unusually bright seemed to creep into the room 3. The hotel has a really good deal with a nearby car park - as we live in Leeds we had got a taxi to the hotel but if we had known about the car parking fee of £6 for 24hrs prior to our stay we would have done that - I think that Premier Inn should advertise this on their website. Like I say, these are only minor problems and we will definitely stay here again

* * * *

Stayed here for 2 nights with my partner. Hotel was clean and quiet in a good location to walk out at night for food, drink and for shopping in day. Didn't have breakfast. Didn't get room serviced either! We had put "do not disturb" on door, but we were out for 11:00 and the service trolley was still on our floor. When we came back later that afternoon our room hadn't been touched. I went downstairs and asked for tea, coffee and milk and told the girl why. She supplied plenty of drinks and said sorry and that was it. We found the matress a bit soft and all the pillows felt exactly the same, even though 2 were supposed to be firm and 2 soft. Would book Premier Inn again, but only at discounted room rates.

* * * *

The hotel is well situated, rooms well appointed, staff very friendly, food lovely BUT as this hotel is very central it is well frequented by young people and hen/stag parties. We were unfortunate enough to have an ajoining room with what was supposed to be 2 girls in it but turned out to be an entire youth club partying all night - AND I DO MEAN ALL NIGHT! Music, laughing, shouting, screaming, running up and down the corridor, banging on doors from 4am to 8am.
Was so tired by the time I left I'd lost my will to live! Staff did what they could to contain the noise and throw out the offending people who shouldn't have been there but, with them being so drunk and aggressive, the night staff really did have their work cut out.
That said, I would stay again but will be requesting a room with a quiet old couple next door!

Premier inn very central to city centre, Staff really friendly ate one evening in restaurant they had highchair available for my son service was good and staff very busy in restaurant but attentive.Rooms very clean and spacious only issue but not really an issue with having family room as my son is 10 months old and quite mobile the hair dryer could have been positioned a bit higher and out of reach from floor level and in the bathroom a new toilet paper dispenser was of great interest as my son could reach and pull all of the paper out, maybe an old fashioned toilet roll holder would have been better so i could take the roll off and put it out of reach. We had to cut stay short because of weather and staff really helpful on reception and gave us number to contact them in case we needed to come back and stay,

* *

Room and facilities were fine, spacious and clean. However, the downside of our stay was no water for the majority of the evening and night - only being reinstated by about 3am in the morning. This meant no washing, showering, no tea/coffee and no flushing the toilet. Not exactly a pleasant stay for me or other members of my party.

* * * *

My wife and I are in our 70s and she has limited mobility. We stayed two nights for a family visit and were pleasantly impressed. Check-in was quick from a receptionist behind one of two freestsnding workstations; the room was perfectly clean with electronically controlled heating/aircon; the bed was firm-ish but OK; and the shower excellent. The breakfast was as good or better than we've had in four-star hotels, being of the hor or cold buffet type at different rates. If you don't pay for it in advance you pay for it separately on the day but we didn't mind that as we didn't always know in advance what we wanted. My wife had one or two minor gripes like not much selection in the hot drinks tray, shower gell instead of soap, and no rail to hang the hand towell, but it was still very good value for money. The staff were probably as kind and attentive as any we have encountered in stays around the world.

* * * *
Car parking a pain - no onsite parking so had to fight for a space in a busy city centre carpark and then walk through pouring rain to the hotel - not a good start!
Check in was simple using the self service check in, desk person was helpful. Room was easy to find and smelled fresh. Room very clean, bathroom clean except behind the door but toilet paper and hand soap for sink both less than half full. Standard ''Premier Inn'' layout which gives everything you need for a short stay. Bed comfy, Light in bedroom not good for reading by. Air con noisy and no extractor in the bathroom. Hotel very quiet despite city centre location and easy walk to O2 arena. Would use this hotel again

* * * *
self service check in could be an issue but a member of staff was on hand to help - the room was of a good standard and very spacious but some issues which we highlighted to the reception on leaving was a broken light switch so we left the bathroom light on all night and some plug sockets we struggled to plug appliances in -it is very close to all amenities but still away from the crowds - the public car park is close by and a discount reduces the price from £18 to just £6 which is a great saving - we did not have breakfast in the hotel this time but went to the local Wetherspoons 2 mins away - but the quality and location makes and price make it a great choice

* *
I like Premier Inn and use them most weeks for work, but this hotel has some real drawbacks as follows:
1. No car park. You have to drive to a local shopping centre and park there (and pay). About 5 mins walk across a very busy road but no fun in the rain.
2. Average food with poor service
3. Premium price drinks and food
Not a bargain, and not convenient.
Be warned.

* * *
Good Location for pubs, pubs and more pubs including the drunken student fights that regularly break out. Car Park is not 2 minutes away more like 6 and awkward with a case. Rooms are as you expect and shower great. I hate paying for wifi though. Restaurant with hotel but expensive but plenty of cheap places like weatherspoons and a good carvery nearby. Its a 15 minute walk into the city centre. I asked for a receipt on the way out and was refused basically telling me tough as the jobsworth was running an exit programme.

* * * * *
The tea was Twinings, and I prefer PG Tips. But again, that's nitpickery.

* * * *
I booked my room online and received a very competitive rate. I was going to arrive after 7 o'clock, and phoned to let the hotel know. When I arrived, the receptionist remembered not only that I had phoned, but my name. The hotel has an automated check-in machine, which worked very efficiently.
My room (505) was large, clean, comfortable and quiet. Though there was a connecting door with the room adjacent, I heard nothing through it. The bathroom was large and equipped with the usual Premier Inn "stuff", though the dispenser for the hand soap was empty. I called reception, and the very nice receptionist who had greeted me, came up with a refill, but we discovered together that the dispenser was broken. Rather than change rooms, I just asked to keep the refill bottle.
My only real criticism is that the duvet for the bed was really too warm, and would only have been comfortable had I had the air conditioning on all night - both noisy and dehydrating. I took the quilt out of its cover and asked for a blanket, but, understandably, the hotel only uses quilts.The next morning, the receptionist was apologetic for my disturbed night, helpful, friendly and efficient. On her second day at this Premier Inn, she has fully grasped the concept of "customer care".
This is quality service, quality accommodation and excellent value for money, and my niggles are really the sort that I would expect to moan about at a far more expensive and "starred" establishment.

* * * * *
Stayed at this hotel last week and as we've come to expect of Premier Inns the staff were friendly, the room spotless and the bed comfortable. Our only niggle is that they only ever provide one chair in a double room. However, I'd recommend anyone wanting to enjoy a few days in Leeds for a theatre trip or shopping to stay here. It's central and if you don't want to eat in there are dozens of wonderful eating places within walking distance.

This was the fifth time at a Premier Inn and I would without any hesitation book a room again at a Premier Inn. I'm very pleased with the formula. Especially if you can avoid weekends, it becomes very attractive pricewise. And the quality offered makes it even more attractive. Actually I only have one small complaint (the same as in Belfast): staff handling check-in procedures. I noticed again that if a staff member is handling the check-in who is not trained as a receptionist, things can go wrong. But things were taken care of smoothly afterwards. So, all in all, I was glad I chose a Premier Inn again.
I stayed at the hotel for four days: 2 days I stayed in Leeds itself (which I found sufficient), one day I went to York by steam train, and one day by regular Transdev bus (buy a cheap day ticket) to Haworth to visit the Brontë Parsonage Museum and on the way back from Haworth: Saltair

My wife and I stayed for 2 nights, beginning Sunday - although we're not sure we would have found it, or the nearby car park, without the satnav! We found the the hotel to be new and kept beautifully clean. The staff were very friendly and helpful. The hotel was very quiet inside - we heard virtually nothing in our room, despite being next to a busy main road. We have two caveats however.
1. The discount voucher system for the nearby Merrion Centre multi storey car park is a great plus - except that it didn't seem to be properly set up for the transition from Sunday parking rates to weekday, and so cost us £6 instead of the £2.50 we had been told to expect. The next night worked fine. We have recommended on the 'Premier' survey that they clarify the charges, and get them clearly stated on their web site - as the discounts, when working properly, are substantial and should encourage anyone to stay who may be hesitating.
2. We were concerned that a chair is not provided for reception staff, who are expected to stand for 8 hours with only a 20 min break. Note that the staff did not raise any complaint, but when we mentioned it they did admit to tired feet/legs and one said that they had been told that it was for 'health and safety purposes'. We fail to see how this improves the health or safety of the staff and, despite the other pluses of our stay, are somewhat put off a company that treats its staff this way.

My family (2+3) booked a stay here today. The location is horrible unless you need to get to someplace really really close. No parking, except in a building not exactly close, so you better come without a car, or without luggage... Streets around are very hard to navigate even with gps, since it's in a very crowded business area. Staff completely useless. We were given a room that was not prepared, and after some more waiting, we got a room next to some air venting system... I've been to premier inn for the past few days, and all locations were great, with helpful staff. This one just made a noticeable dent in our otherwise great vacation. Stay away.

Residence 6

A city centre stop over with extended family and children can conjure many downsides instead of the obvious upsides .... cramped into under sized rooms, sharing limited facilities, accepting a living experience below your own home expectations! Not at Residence 6 Leeds! Ideally located right in the city centre, easy walking distance from any entertainment you might seek, the roomy, well equiped apartments provided us wonderful accommodation and gave the children a real WOW experience. The staff were so welcoming and helpful. A weekend stay is well recommended.
Downsides: the children now want more space at home, lack of close parking ... but if you arrve by train you will be laughing!!!

I stayed here with friends and we had a number of 2 bed apartments for 2 nights. We all travel regularly and I'm not exaggerating we were all stunned by the beautiful design, finish and architecture. We had duplex apartments and loved the staircases, exposed iron work and triple-height ceiling in the lounge area of our largest one.
The cost for four people to stay in an apartment here worked out less than if we'd stayed in the Travelodge. That astounds me. Amazing value as well as surroundings.
The staff were great too, particularly Chris who worked at night during our stay.
Can't fault the location - directly opposite the train station and a short walk from the Trinity shopping centre and attractions/bars and restaurants. There's a Sainsburys in the station in case you run out of supplies, we found this useful for breakfast stuff.
I have a couple of minor niggles, for example there was no hairdryer provided (though I'm sure we could have asked for one), the kitchen utensils and cleaning products were slightly lacking (again I'm sure if we'd asked we could have obtained some more) and bizarrely the main corridor linking the rooms always smelt of cooking/fried fish & chips, which I presume was from the restaurant below. As a fan of Loch Fyne anyway I didn't mind this so much but it did make me hungry!
I've stayed in Leeds a number of times (also in the Queens, on business, and the Park Plaza, for leisure) and these apartments are by far my favourite of the three. Would definitely stay here again and recommend, am not sure would revisit the Park Plaza.

Me and my partner used this place in April 2012 , We have stayed in a few nice hotels in Leeds to be honest and this is the best!
We loved it!
Very clean with a spacious seating and living area, kitchen lovely, bed very comfy and nice linens and excellent Molton Brown products in the bathroom.
Excellent location as central straight out of the front of the train station. (above loch fyne)
Once we had the key we never needed to use the guest services so cant comment on that really.....u shouldn't be disspointed here!
Only one small gripe is we had a room that overlooked a carpark which wasn't the best view, we were out though and used the oven for an M&S pizza - oven was easy and as expected! Would be great for longer stays to. Fridge has a selection of basics you may need.Nice touch!
We will definately stay again when were next in Leeds!
see my other reviews for more leeds hotels

Lovely,spacious and clean apartments with nice personal touches on arrival however the front desk service was poor and slow and when we left they didn't have any car park discount vouchers and the girl on reception didn't see this to be a problem however we ended up paying the full rate of £17 per day for the Q-Park parking facilities in Leeds. All in all pleasant stay but the service definitely needs working on if it is going to match the well thought out facilities.

Top quality apartment would definately stay again. highly recommend
The fridge had milk, bread, butter etc. It was clean however a few minor errors, a bowl and glass table had a lot of fingerprints which was a put off, and once of the pans inside the cupboard was slightly dirty,I believe as a 5 star they should seek for perfection.Also I was expecting a bath not a shower, as it said so in my description, However I was very impressed, it was more than what I had expected and helpful staff.
The bed was very comfortable
good shower (strong)
Equipped kitchen
good quality decor
fantastic location
I had a great veiw
only fault i could not open the window however i did not ask reception so maybe you can

We recently stayed for one night and found the apartment to roomy and quite modern although within an old building. Although Equiped for self catering there are an abundance of restaurants and eating places at your doorstep. The bathrooms are spacious with demist mirror...great for shaving!! The only down fall were strong cooking smells of fish and curry in the room and corridors on level 3' not sure if from the restaurant below or from cooking in other rooms. Entry was little difficult at night, the building was locked and we had difficulty raising the attention of the In House Security.

    We actually live in Yorkshire but never really get a chance to experience Leeds nightlife as its always a "last train home" or very expensive taxi ride! I wanted to nice place to stay in the centre where we can basically be a tourist for the day and Residence 6 was a fab place to stay. In fact my grandfather used to be the caretaker for the builiding when it was used as the post office so staying there was also a bit nostalgic as I used to visit his cubby (which is now the reception area) when I was very young.
    We had apartment 5 which is a one bedroom on on level (some of the rooms are mezzanine). It was right over the Loch Fyne entrance with good views over city square - no noise could be heard outside or from the restaurants below however.
    The apartment was stocked with some kitchen basics (bread, milk, butter) and the bathroom with miniture Molton Brown goodies.
    The standard of decor was very high and the apartment itself was huge!
    Check in was very easy and as we had arrived in the morning, the receptionist saved our bags and ensured they were in our room for when we came back to check in at 2pm.
    Just be aware before booking that payment is credit card only and they do require a £250 refundable deposit (which is just earmarked on your card and released a few days later).
    A few minor points, the receptionist did seem a bit disinterested and she very rarely smiled - not a massive issue but if going to a nice place its good to start your experience with a smile. The bathroom was of a high quality but the grouting to the shower was very old and brown and because everything else is so nice then this really sticks out. The room above us made a lot of noise at about 1am but a quick call to reception seemed to sort this out and of course your own stay may not have noisy neighbours!
    Overall pleased we stayed here and would recommend it

      I stayed in a two bedroom apartment in April and have to say from the moment you walk in right up until the moment you say goodbye the staff couldn't be more helpful. On the morning we were about to check out we inadvertantly overslept and the staff were more than obiliging to allow us to check out a lot lot later (maybe I need to add another lot in there) than we stated the night previous. The decor was comfortable, the beds luxorious and oh the bathroom I wish I could have packed taken it home with me.
      So why not 5 stars, well the carpet in the landing contained hoover marks (I know I am being petty), the tv only worked when you placed a kettle behind it (how odd but oh so true) and the wifi was really poor.

       * * *
      Pros:
      Large apartment
      Conveniently situated
      Noise not an issue despite being in a busy area
      Small stock of items in kitchen to last until able to get to shops
      Cons:
      Advertised hairdryer - wasn't one
      Advertised microwave - wasn't one (unless build into oven)
      Advertised plasma TVs - false, TVs were fairly dated
      Advertised double bed - false (Queen size)
      Reception staff were not overly friendly or helpful, one was rude
      Landing carpet needed hoovering throughout our stay
      "Luxery towels" were freyed and tatty
      Decor generally finished to a poor standard (as in the finer details that would justify 5* rating)
      Car park only fits "small cars" according to the staff, "hardly any car would fit in" (quote) so despite advertising a car park, staff tell you not to park there unless you have a very small car

       * * * * *

        I spent the weekend here with my girlfriend and we were both delighted with this place. The style is modern and minimal with lots of earth colours and wood, everything about it is nice! The rooms are clean, well appointed, air conditioned, quiet (Apart from the dustbin lorry although this is probably not the fault of Residence 6). The bed was very comfortable even though it is a double not a king. Everything in the appartment worked well, cooker washing machine, fridge, dishwasher. What is not to like! The only slight irk we had was the lack of bath in our appartment although we understand some of the other rooms have them. I would also have liked a shaving mirror.
        Access to local facilities is excellent, it is a minute to the city centre so five minutes walk takes you to more restaurants and shops than can be mentioned in a revue. You will also be less than a minutes walk from Leeds train station. We visited Leeds Art Gallery and spent a day walking round the city, we were suprised by what a nice place this is to go for a city break.
        If you want a hotel with a vibrant bar this is not the place for you, if you want a quiet, private "home from home" retreat then you will love this.

         * * *

          I stayed at Residence 6 for two nights in January 2011 with my husband and two young sons.
          We didn't get off to a good start as there was no-one on reception when we arrived mid-afternoon - laden down with two small children and luggage - and no-one answered the doorbell. We had to ring a mobile number that took ages to be answered. However, once we did get inside the staff were friendly and welcoming. We were shown to our apartment and told we had been 'upgraded' but neither of us could see how.
          The apartment - 12 - was at the end of a corridor. We opted for a two bedroomed suite and the second bedroom was at the top of a fairly steep staircase. I was concerned about my toddler, but he was fine. Our bedroom was a good size, although the shower in the en-suite bathroom was compact. A travel cot for our 9 month old son was provided without any extra charge, which was refreshing.
          The living accommodation was a good size with a nice view out across City Square. Despite its location in the centre of Leeds it was quiet and we never really heard any traffic noise. The lounge was well furnished with very comfortable sofas. The kitchen was a generous size and a 'welcome pack' was left in the fridge - milk, bread etc. Unfortunately one of the pots of jams had been opened and used by another resident - not very good. The kitchen door was propped open by a wedge of newspaper rolled up. Can a proper doorstop be that expensive?
          There is no room service within the apartment block, but there is a Loch Fyne underneath the flats and another restaurant right next door. Both of these have 'agreements' with Residence 6 and in our case, delivered right to our door. Very useful and great service!
          We used the dishwasher in the apartment on the first night (for our sons bottles). When we got up the next morning there was a large pool of water on the floor and underneath the wooden plinth. I told reception about this later that morning and they said they would 'look into it'. Nothing more was said and when I mentioned it again on check out the next day they said an engineer was coming out that day. We couldn't use the dishwasher on the second night, so it was a good job we were going home. Towels that we had to use to clean up the water were left piled up, wet, where we left them. The newspaper wedge was soggy. Again, not very professional.
          There is no parking at Residence 6, but they do have an arrangement with a local car park. There is a drop off bay, advertised in their literature, to enable you to unload cases etc. before parking. On the first evening while emptying the car and making a trip to the apartment, we received a parking ticket for being in a loading bay 'while not loading'. I told reception and it seems a fairly common occurrence. Be warned!
          All in all I thought Residence 6 was good. It was cheaper, for us, to stay there with our children than a comparable hotel and I appreciated the kitchen and extra living space. However, I expected more from them. Little things annoyed me - the parking, no-one being on reception on arrival, the used jam pot, the wet towels, the newspaper wedge under the door and the small shower. From reading reviews on here I thought it would be as near perfect. Perhaps I am getting grumpy in my old age! However, the location was great and the staff were friendly and we have re-booked

           * * * *

            Residence 6 met all my expectations for my 2 night stay; the apartment/suite was very generous in size, the kitchen was fully equipped and the frig filled with a loaf of bread, jam and butter and a container of milk which made for an excellent snack and morning tea after my overnight flights. Shower was easy to use as well as the towel warmer. The only complaint I had was the lack of a telephone in the bedroom which left me a bit worried as I was dependent on a wake up call which range from the living room phone.
            Also location was excellent the restaurants and for the train next day to London.

             * * *

              I stayed here with my daughter for two nights when she was having an operation. The staff were without exception kind and helpful, beyond the basics, really helpful and friendly.
              But we were disappointed with aspects of the accommodationPerhaps I didn't read the blurb carefully enough but I sort of expect an apartment to be all on one level and I have just looked at their website again and in all the video and photos I can't see amy indication that this is not the case. In fact there are approx 25 steep wooden stairs in apt 17 between the rather small and scuffed/ basic living / kitchen area and the much nicer sleeping accommodation. I asked if this was the case with all the apartments and was told it is. If you stand outside the building you can see the problem, it is converted from the handsome old post office with huge proportions.
              It meant we really stayed upstairs almost all the time where still things niggled. One handset for two televisions (one in each bedroom) I did bring the down stairs one up but then when I went down couldn't turn the TV on there whilst I cooked. One very small non-stick badly scratched frying pan yet lots of METAL cooking utensils and considering it sleeps four (two double beds) a small table to seat two.
              Nice bathrooms, washer drier in a cupboard upstairs but nowhere to hang washing which can't be tumbled. Main gripe was the fact that the smaller bedroom has only an internal window (nice and light) but the other one has a balconette and opening doors but we were told this could not be opened for 'health and safety' - the wall was up to my chest so it seems crazy and meant we had no air at night so had to jam open the fire door downstairs (not goog health and safety!) and get the double glazing unlocked so that we could leave the downstairs windows open in the hope some air would come up to our stuffy bedrooms which didn't work very well. We turned the air con down to the minimum and asked for it to be made to work but nothing seemed to change so I hate to think what it would be like in the summer! To be fair the restaurant below told us they had a problem with their extractor fan (hence strong cooking smells above) so it may be connected but I always like to be able to open a window.
              Bedrooms well appointed lots of hangers -that was good - but not 5*. Great location right in the centre and opposite the station though. Otherwise I'd say Roomz is better value and at least all on one level. Also some of the things it makes a big play on in the website, like 'turn down service' just didn't happen though as I say the staff were lovely.

               * * * * *

                We stayed one night in august, it was an extremely comfortable stay, the bathrobes were so cosy and the kitchen had all we needed for a nights stay. My only gripe was there wasnt a bath tub but i dont think this was a major issue. The location is great and despite it being so central the noise wasn't a problem at all, you couldnt open the windows so presumably it was pretty much sealed! The staff were very nice, slightly giggly though.

                  Stayed here for weekend with in-laws. The hotel is really easy to find but don't go expecting what you see or read on the website. We were in a group of 2 couples and after what I had read I expected 2 bedrooms with a lounge suitable for 4 people. If you have any more than 2 people and you wish to watch TV or have a meal or in our case a game then you can forget sitting together. The sofa was only suitable for 2 people and an armchair for 1. A dining table and 2 chairs so you could not sit together. The first person I spoke to was really rude and informed us that they were full and could not give us another 2 chairs. The smell from the second bathroom was awful and the reason given was that it was an old building. Last of all if you are disabled or struggle with walking then forget it. The lift goes to all floors but inside of the apartment there were more stairs than there was to get up to the apartment. The carpets were filthy and we had blood all over our sheets, lights out on the stairs, rather dangerous and the smell from the seafood restaurant below was enough to make you vomit. So as far as I am concerned really not that nice a place and I will stay back at the radisson next time.

                   * * * *

                    First impressions of the hotel were good- very central location and quick check in .We were put in room 20, and were very impressed with the chic loft living style. As mentioned by other reviews the living space was quite chilly but it is a loft and it is Jan so we did not mind too much. The welcome pack was a good idea and all the rooms were spacious and spotlessly clean . Our first problem was that in the brochure and the guest services book it was made clear that they had arrangements with
                    local restaurants for room service but as there was no info in the rooms and the receptionist could only source us 2 menus we were left trawling the internet to find any restaurants that would deliver to us. after a long drive we settled in for an early night in the most uncomfortable bed I have ever slept in, was tiny (seemed even smaller than a double but surely not), lumpy and far too soft. When I did eventually start to drop off , i was woken numerous times by slamming doors into the small hours
                    . These do seem like small problems but the styling of the hotel promises so much and then is let down by the easiest things to fix !!

                     * *

                         have just stayed at Residence 6 for one night last weekend for a girlie/sisters birthday treat. I booked directly and received confirmation to find that the apartment we had been allocated (15) had previously been reviewed as being really noisy with a clock tower outside. I therefore emailed with my concerns and was told the apartment would be changed if possible . It was - we found that we were in apartment 17 on arrival. I agree with other reviews that the building and general first impression is great, but there are lots of little things that could be easily addressed and would make all the difference to make an 'ok' experience into a great experience.
                        The good: lovely accommodation, nice touches with Molton Brown toiletries, gowns, lovely bedding and sheets, plenty of quality crockery, cutlery etc
                        The bad: (here goes!) The first thing I noticed was the disinterest of the girl on the reception desk. Far from being the attentive welcoming staff mentioned in other reviews she looked as though she had just enjoyed a good night out and was quite slow at checking us in in. She may be new or was just sleepy, I don't know, but I had read that guests were escorted to their room - there was none of that certainly although she did point to the lift! The lounge was absolutely freezing when we went in, even though the thermostat was high, so we kept our coats on until we went out again. In contrast the bedrooms were really hot. There were 4 of us, and a relation was coming to join us for a celebratory glass of champers before going out for a meal that night.
                        However, as has been pointed out previously, there was a only 2 seater sofa and one chair. The dining table only had 2 chairs. As we left to go shopping I spoke to the same receptionist and showed her the brochure which misleadingly illustrates a spacious apartment with 2 double sofas and 4 dining chairs around the table. I asked if any of the apartments had adequate seating for 4 guests and she seemed a bit bemused and said she didn't know! I asked if she could investigate for me while we were out shopping and she said she would.
                        On returning there was no one at reception so we went to the apartment. The lounge was still cold and the lamp didn't work and all-in-all it painted a bleak picture. I phoned the reception and explained to a young man - he said he had received no message from the previous receptionist about the seating.(!) He came up to the room bringing with him one dining chair (?) and I showed him the inadequate seating and the lamp. He left saying he would see what he could do and returned with a light bulb but said there was nothing he could do about the seating and that all the other apartments were full so we could not change apartments. Fortunately we were dining out later but in the meantime, 4 adults lined up in a cold room hardly demonstrated a luxury accommodation experience. I felt guilty as this had been a surprise birthday treat for one of the party and I had wanted it to be faultless. And where was the famed Joe Malone turn down experience with the scented sheets? No sign of that at all, although it is extolled in the advertising.

                        It is a shame - while it has the potential to provide a superb experience, it is the disregard to detail, such as the lack of seating, the failure to check that lamps etc are working, black scuff marks on the stair walls and the indifference from staff that was encountered.
                        We would love to stay again and for longer if we knew it was going to be as good as promised - the location is great but I must admit I was disappointed after having such great expectations Come on, Residence 6, it doesn't take much to correct things. Hey... and options of twin beds would be good too.

                         * * *

                            Stayed in a 2 bedroom apartment for 1 night (first weekend after New Year) with my wife, son and his girlfriend.
                            Booked direct from the website and all was pretty smooth. I did ask them to book a table at Akbars Indian restaurant and after 3 or 4 e-mails from me, chasing a response, I was eventually told by the reception that Akbars do not accept bookings at either restaurant in Leeds!! I was hoping to experience the Residence Six 'World Class Concierge Service' but wish I had just rung Akbars myself !!
                            On entering the apartment the first thing I noticed was how cold it was, remember, this was one of the coldest weekends for a long time!! The apartment was one of their smaller ones and, like the previous reviewer stated, only had a 'table for 2' ?!??!!
                            The bedrooms were 'OK', not luxurious by any standards (Yorebridge House bedrooms in the Dales has 'luxurious' bedrooms!) but clean and pleasent, making use of the old wooden beams, meaning you had to 'duck and climb' past one of them to get into bed (not so good in the middle of the night in a strange room!) Beds were comfy and bathrooms clean.One of the bedrooms was nice and warm, the other was cold, both rooms already had the air con on full? The lounge/kitchen was OK, (didn't like the stray long blonde hairs on one of the chairs when I put my head back to relax!!) 2 'big' windows over City Square and a very high ceiling - the very same reason it was so cold. The windows had secondary glazing which consisted of a UPVC window over the existing one, which opened, one of them was faulty and would not close properly, you would probably need a 12ft step ladder to push the top half shut when you tried to lock it !! Anyway, I think 'air-con' is a great way of cooling a room, but not so good at 'heating' one, apart from drying the air so much, the unit in the lounge was several feet 'ABOVE' the kitchen area, so guess where all the warm air went....straight into the vaulted ceiling area, which explained why the bedroom at the front was so nice and warm!! Answer? - I turned all 4 hotplates on full on the hob - made a nice 'fire' which after 2-3 hours you could feel a difference, but I must admit, the temperature never was acceptable.
                            Several other areas of fault (here he goes again cries the reading public!!) The TV in the lounge - only BBC1 & 2 worked properly, the bedroom TV's were fine.
                            We asked to borrow an iron and board - the steam did not work and the water just poured out (despite turning the steam off)
                            The bathroom electric radiator in the 'cold' bedroom did not work (ironically it did in the 'warm' bedroom!!)
                            The 'cold' bedroom did eventually warm up by the time we returned at around midnight. We turned off the air-con in both bedrooms....BUT.....the noise continued !!! I believe the ducting travels the entire length of the top floor, resulting in a constant drone from the roof space area!!
                            No turn down service??? Where were our 'Jo Malone' scented bed sheets??!! LOL I understood they turned down the beds around 6.00pm...we were debating whether to watch BBC 1 or 2 at this time, so no reason why they could not get in the rooms etc.....they must have forgot?!
                            1.00am....OH MY GOD....there appeared to be a whole gaggle of screaming/shouting girls in the rooms next to us, who sounded about 12!!!! (just got there pocket money and no school tomorrow!!) Upon checking in we were asked (tounge in cheek!) that we were not holding a party......now I know why, not sure if this is a problem at Residence Six, but it was for us!!! By 3.00am they went quiet....just the air-con to listen to !!

                            Another reviewer mentioned light bulbs not working etc, the floor lights on the staircase were either out, or flashed like a strobe light....no good for those of you with 'photo sensitive epilepsy'!
                            'Did you not tell anyone?' I hear you ask. No, we were there for 1 night, several hours, and could have spent all that time resolving the niggles....some of which you can't resolve unless you redesign the heating system etc !! and I did not want to spoil it for the others in my party.
                            So, would we go again, in a word...No.

                            It is after all, a self catering apartment, costing around £200 a night, £600 for 3 nights....£1000++ for a week!!! (who said self catering was cheap!!)
                            This is the first and last time we will use 'serviced apartments'.
                            OK, we paid £195 and got 2 rooms, but I did not book to save a pound here and there, I booked to see how it would compare, and because of the good reviews on Tripadvisor!! I must admit, I much prefer a Hotel !!
                            I would never expect to be cold in a hotel room and have never experienced so many issues during a night away.
                            Whilst Residence Six appears impressive at first 'glance', I think a great deal of 'attention to detail' is required.
                            I also believe it should not be under the 'HOTEL' heading on Tripadvisor, as it is clearly not a hotel, but should be placed under the 'SPECIALITY LODGING' section, along with all other serviced apartments.
                            Quickly, breakfast on a weekend at the Restaurant Bar & Grill (below Residence Six) was brilliant. Dinner at Chino Latino accross the road...expensive but excellent.....lots of cool bars, cocktail lounges within walking distance etc.

                             * * * *

                                Stayed here with my mum in the 2 bedroom apartment for 2 nights in Jan.
                                When we arrived we were greeted by a young friendly guy on the desk. We were told we were in room 13 which was on the 3rd floor. On arrivel we were very happy with the room, and the larger bedroom at the back even had a lovely big balcony sitting area off from it. However, this was also directly below a massive extractor fan that you could hear a lot in the main bedroom and in the backroom too. My mum knew she wouldnt be able to sleep with the noise so we asked to change rooms. The staff were very helpful and quickly moved us to apartment 15, which was slightly smaller but still very impressive.
                                We bought food in that night and ate in the apartment and ordered a DVD from the free DVd library. I also ordered up some straightners and and ipod dock, all free of charge and delivered by a friendly girl from reception. However on going to bed I noticed a loud ticking sound coming from somewhere in my room. I thought it must have been a clock but couldnt find one anywhere. By 2am it was driving me crazy so I rang down to reception and a girl came up. We then discovered that my room was right below the big clock on top of the building!! The girl said we could change room if we wanted, so reluctantly we went to room 17 which was a lot smaller but thankfully a lot quiter!!
                                We managed to get a good nights sleep. The only thing was that my room looked like someone had tried to dye their hair as there was black spots all over the cream carpet and a black stain going up the side of the shower. Also in the morning I was awoken to stupidly loud building work that we hadn't been aware was happening. This was the only noise problem that really annoyed me as the extractor fan and the ticking clock probably wouldnt have bothered most people. However I think the sound of crashing and banging, a massive drill, and men yelling backwards and forwards would wake most up! I think perhaps that the hotel should tell you about then when you book up as it might put a few people off, even though I'm ware there's nothing they can do about it.
                                One other little niggle is that we were in a 2 bed apartment, which I assume is often used to accomodate 4 people. However in all 3 apartments that we were in the dining table was only for 2 people. On the website it clearly shows a table for 4 people and a much larger apartment. I'd advise you to ask specifically for an apartment that has a 4 person dining table if more than 2 or you are staying there.
                                I know this sounds like I've complained a lot but both me and my mum both had a really nice stay. And it was much nicer to go back to than a hotel. And also a bit cheaper than having two hotel rooms.
                                I think perhaps when you're paying £175 a night at a 5* serviced apartment you expect to not have to deal with certain things like men at work at 8am!! However I couldnt fault the staff who were all really lovely and friendly, and I would definately recomend Residence 6 to a friend. Perhaps if you are as sensitive to noise as we are then ask for a quiet room in advance!

                                 * * * * *

                                    We stayed in residence 6 for the new year and absolutley loved it!
                                    The apartment was a 2 bed multi storey, double ensuite and a downstairs toilet, so there was no need to drag yourself upstairs to one of the two ensuites.
                                    The style was very modern, fresh and clean with everything in there that you could need. The pictures you see are accurate.
                                    We ordered an ipod docking station, dvd's, take-outs, ironing boards etc ... all which were delivered to us, within minutes of our request (free of charge - except the take-out of course!), by most possibly the nicest staff I have ever met - even the cleaners were nice to talk to! We were also lucky to grab one of the limted hotel parking spaces. Very cramped - our car was damaged whilst in there, but the hotel offered to pay for the repair. Worth asking about - your car could just as easily be damaged in the multi-storey.
                                    There was the occasional glitch, which was mainly due to the reception staff not talking to each other (we ordered some bread and a paper from the night duty officer, but it didnt arrive in the morning as an example), but that happens everywhere on occasion. The most annoying things for me were that when I needed a plaster after I cut myself, they didnt have one - which was a suprise and the lift was out for the duration of our stay meaning we had to navigate the stairs (3 floors). The girl on reception offered to take our cases up for us, but I didnt want to see her end up in hospital - so I took it myself.
                                    The central location is excellent and there are all the amenities you need local to the apartment.
                                    I have been lucky enough to stay at many a 5* hotel - and this is by far the nicest room and the friendliest staff I have come across.
                                    If you are going to stay in leeds and you would appreciate the space and luxuary, then this place is the place for you

                                     * * * *

                                        Good value (relatively) if you want very good quality plus more than 1 bedroom, very central location with good access to shopping and restaurants, with plenty of night clubs nearby too. We stayed two nights.
                                        Access with a car is not its best asset; I asked (on my booking form) for valet parking but after fighting my way through the busy bus stop, at rush hour we found there was nowhere to stop immediately outside, there is lay-by for loading (20min) 100 metres or so beyond the entrance. No valet parking was offered to us however, so we had to use the written directions to the "Q park" which was not very easy to find if you are not familiar with the city. We ended up in a “sister” car park of the same name which added to the stress of getting there. It would have been better if they supplied a map with the directions and better still if, as advertised, they had offered to park the car for us. We had to unload our own suitcases and watch the kids, so arrival was stressful.
                                        Parking is expensive for “self parking”.
                                        The apartments are new, but could benefit from attention to details, such as ensuring all of the lights are working, adjusting the doors so that the automatic closures don't cause them to slam shut- as ours did- and filling in some shrinkage cracks that have appeared in the ceiling, and fixing some creaking stair treads. Even the lift, while very flash, needs some attention as it smelled of gear oil and jerked a bit, suggesting that it has not been properly commissioned.

                                        However there is no denying that the apartments are clean and very modern, with quality furnishing. It is probably the newest and most plush accommodation in Leeds, but it is not quite “finished”, in my view.
                                        We had a double bedroom suit; the rooms are upstairs (quite a few stairs -not suited to people who might struggle with stairs). The rooms are a good size with plenty of storage and each has an LCD TV and shower room en suite. The beds are great but too small for us (4 feet 6 wide); for this class of accommodation we expect at least queen sized beds (5 feet) or even king sized. Also some small details are missing, such as being able to switch on bedside lights separately and without getting out of bed.
                                        We did not use the kitchen much but it is well set up; again it would be improved if there was a coffee maker, but that is comparing the facilitates with an apartment we stayed in Dubai, which is perhaps too high a standard?
                                        I note that some customers were offered the chance of booking some food for arrival but we were not- perhaps because we did not book with them directly. Some basic complimentary food (bread, milk, tea coffee etc) was supplied, which is nice, but it would have been even better if we could have arranged to have had the opportunity of booking some of our own favourite food and drink to be stocked in advance.

                                        We did not like the air conditioning system; at night it was a little noisy and in our apartment it tended to run either slightly too cold or too warm for periods (despite being set to a "standard 21 degrees), so that at 2am I was woken feeling too hot; we tried opening the balcony window but it was too noisy (Friday night in a city centre this is of course expected!).
                                        Overall I prefer to trade some of the ultra modern touches with better service and bigger beds; I stayed at 42 The Calls recently and enjoyed it more- valet parking after a long journey in an unfamiliar city is great.
                                        I think that some of the staff are a little inexperienced; even after we reported more than 6 lights not working (some on the stairs making them dark) we found they only fixed some of the lights. They forgot to deliver our newspaper in the morning, and an hour or so later, after a good breakfast in the associated restaurant next door, it had not arrived (11am).
                                        The free internet access is useful if you have a laptop to check out reviews on restaurants etc; however the wireless connection is open (unsecured) so it is very vulnerable and not safe for use, in my view.
                                        Overall, it seems harsh to criticise such a fantastically located and generally well fitted, ultra modern apartment, but it does not justify a full 5 stars. However our expectations are very high, and I am judging this by the standards of top hotels and serviced apartments.

                                         * * * * *

                                            An excellent concept, superbly executed. Staff were as nice as pie and from the minute you entered your own apartment, you had all the privacy and space you could ever wish for. The quality of the furnishings and equipment were excellent, plasma screens in the lounge and bedrooms, plus gaming and DVD possibilities, walk-in showers and the finest quality beds and linens.
                                            Although very centrally located, our smallest gripe would be the 5 minute walk to the car park - valet parking would be such an asset, especially if you are not very mobile.
                                            Eating in your own apartment is a pure pleasure, with menus from all the best local restaurants to choose from and the thoughtful welcome pack was just that - welcome and thoughtful!
                                            We stayed there when our son graduated from Leeds University. If only we had discovered this gem of a place earlier…..

                                             * * * * *

                                                we have just returned home after a weekend at residence 6 where we celebrated my husbands birthday. I will write an honest review as I do appreciate how much they are valued on tripadvisor. I have mainly positive comments regarding this property which offers outstanding service and the most immaculate accommodation you could ever wish for from start to finish. Reception staff are more than attentive, and positively go out of their way to oblige any requests you have. Bathrooms are spotless and for the first time ever we didn't bother to wear slippers on our feet, in a residence. Location was perfect as we were next door to 2 fab restaurants, Loch fyne(gorgeous seafood)and Restaurant bar and grill(where we had breakfasts!) and only 2 mins from the shopping parades.
                                                The only negative issues here were the beds which were very uncomfortable as the mattress and pillows were VERY hard hence not having a good nights sleep and the fact that they were not very generous with the bathrooom toiletries. We were only given a couple of TINY bottles of shampoo for the whole weekend, for a family of four and we felt having spent nearly £500 for our stay was a bit stingy!!! We do appreciate that molton brown is quite expensive but why not give a slightly cheaper product but in a larger quantity?
                                                And lastly ,as the residence has no parking facilities we feel they should pay for your parking during your stay and because the car park is a bit of a trek there should be a parking concierge service available.

                                                overall though, we had a most enjoyable stay and if they improve the sleeping arrangements we will return.
                                                thanks to all the team in residence leeds
                                                best wishes

                                                Roomzz -

                                                  * * *
                                                 stayed at the Leeds Roomzzz room 106 for 2 nights last week.
                                                The room is designed to a high standard, as is the kitchen and bathroom.
                                                The SMEG washer dryer allowed me to programme a wash and dry while I was out at dinner.
                                                The shower controls worked to perfection, and I was able to use the aircon or open the window when i wanted.
                                                In the lobby an excellent and simple breakfast of coffee, tea and croissants is served. There is a tuck shop which sells single sachets of food and even laundry liquid.
                                                So far so good.
                                                I lay down on a lovely large double bed but I found it very hard to fall asleep. Whether this was due to the numerous blue lights shining from the electronic gadgets in the room or that the bed sheets did not smell fresh, or that once every hour or so cigarette smell permeated through the room I don't know.
                                                Will I stay again? I will give Roommzz one more try.

                                                  *

                                                I've stopped in Roomzzz many times since their recent opening.(The group is about 5 years old).
                                                On my last visit, commencing 17th Dec. 2012 I had an electric shock from an appliance in Room 207, Swingate, Leeds.
                                                I was staying with my elderly mother. I rang reception about this, who giggled down the phone. Within minutes head office rang the room. Later, electricians came around, said there was a earth leakage, and the PAT safety stickers are out of date. (have photos) Head office rang in the guise of 'customer care' & offered to move us.
                                                This was declined as it was our last night, and my mother is in her late 70s, I informed them that I previously asked the electricians to isolate the kitchen circuit, so we were safe.
                                                On checking out next morning at checkout, the desk 'accidentally' gave me my invoice with the incorrect room number.
                                                On my return home, Roomzzz Head,Mark Walton, wrote to me to say 'Electricians have attended, and reported back no fault on hob or dishwasher'- Untrue, so I contacted Leeds City Council Environmental about my concerns.
                                                They advised me that because the shock gave no physical injury, all they could do was advise me not to take the case further, but they have since contacted the hotel.
                                                My mother has also since contacted the hotel, in tears, and is still traumatised by the whole event almost 1 year on.
                                                I have also sent a letter by 'signed for' post to Roomzzz that was declined, and returned, unopened.
                                                There has been no claim for compensation by us.

                                                  * * * * *
                                                We arrived a bit early but the staff member, Jurate, allowed us to leave our bags until check in. After having wondered around the city for a bit, we checked into a gorgeous room. It was the small studio but had everything we needed (maybe an oven but that's not important!) View wasn't that great but with an Apple Mac/Smart TV we weren't too bothered! We had a queen size bed which was so comfortable and an iPod docking station/alarm clock. Bathroom was clean and quite small. Nice power shower. We had a kitchenette which included a microwave, 2 hobs and a grill. Also a washing machine, kettle, toaster, sink and cutlery. Would definitely stay here again.

                                                 * * * * *

                                                This is the second time that my wife and I have stayed at this Roomzzz Aparthotel and the third time with the chain. It remains great value for money. Our apartment room for 3 nights had everything we needed and more - kitchen, washing machine, computer (using TV), internet access, iron and ironing board. The storage space for clothes is a bit skimpy but that was our only quibble. The fruit, croissants and coffee in the serve-yourself area in reception were fine. There is now a café right next door offering a bigger selection of food and drink for breakfast, should you want it.There was always someone in reception and each one was helpful. We didn't have a car this time but there is a car park opposite. The station is a 6-minute walk away. It's very close to the imaginatively-developed area along the river Aire and a wide range of high-quality restaurants and shops. Why stay anywhere else?

                                                   * * * *

                                                  My boyfriend took me to roomzzz for a romantic get away, where he actually proposed to me!
                                                  Hotel is so ideally located as its a short walk from the bus drop off, and a short walk from the town centre with a ton of shops, bars and places to eat. We were early for check in and so we were allowed to leave our cases before coming back later. Room was extremely clean and spacious - we stayed in a smart studio. Only gripes were we requested a balcony weeks before and were given the smallest corner one when im pretty sure others were available and the shower was quite small. Other than that the place was excellent. iMac's come in very handy to watch netflix and stuff - I wasn't very well on the second night so we got a takeaway and watched a movie which was lovely! Big doors onto the balcony are a godsend in the heat and the black out curtains make sure you get a great sleep. Reception staff are excellent and helped us find places to eat and fixed the iMAC for us when the sound wouldn't work. I'd DEFINITELY stay again and i'm planning to visit again soon.

                                                   * * *
                                                  I have stayed at Leeds City West and Newcastle Roomz which were fantastic! The Leeds City Roomz did not meet the quality of the other accommodations! The room was a little cramped/ not well thought through and some furniture with scuff marks etc. I think this one needs an update to meet the high quality! However, staff were very pleasant, breakfast selection better than the other 2, and you can get a 50% off Q Parking voucher!

                                                   * * *

                                                  This was the first time we had booked Roomzzz as the reviews looked good and we thought it was worth trying.
                                                  On arrival the Receptionist was welcoming and friendly.
                                                  Our room on the 4th floor was comfy, clean and had a reasonably sized balcony. It was really well equipped and had everything you would need for a short self-catering stay.
                                                  The location although central was a bit seedy at night and after a nice meal out, we were pleased to be back after walking through the city.
                                                  The only real down side was the noise from girls partying well into the early hours of the morning but for the price perhaps this was to be expected. We did pay extra for a late check-out and this was just as well as we didn't enjoy the best night's sleep ever.
                                                  I'm not sure whether this is for us as it was just a bit strange being in what is probably more akin to a posh bedsit. Are we snobs - possibly! But at our stage in life, we like what we like.

                                                   * * * * *

                                                  I have stayed at this Aparthotel many times over the last few years and wouldn't consider staying anywhere else when in Leeds
                                                  The apartments are so well fitted out; perhaps too much for the average traveller who is staying overnight on business, as guess most would not need a fully fitted kitchen including washing machine, dishwasher, hob and microwave
                                                  The rooms are really comfortable with memory foam mattress, Mac computer, nice touch like iPod/iPhone charging dock, excellent bathroom with powerful shower (and never a shortage of pressure or hot water) plus a heated mirror that doesn't require wiping with a towel to enable you to see what you are doing when you shave
                                                  The discounted parking charge is welcome for the multi story across the road, as the hotel is so close to the town centre (less than 5 mins into the main streets) there is no need to use a car
                                                  The reception staff are really helpful, plus the grab and go inclusive breakfast is a great touch for those who are in a hurry
                                                  Any negatives? Not that I have found so far. Not tried the other places they have in Manchester and Newcastle but if they are set up similar to this place, obtaining a booking will be the only problem you will encounter

                                                   * * * * *

                                                  I've stayed with Roomzzz before in Manchester & therefore had no hesitation using Roomzzz again, this time in Leeds.
                                                  Once again I received excellent service right from the moment I walked through the door right up to the moment I collected my luggage at the end of my last day in Leeds a week later. I had booked a smart studio since I was travelling alone and this was more than adequate with an comfortable king size bed, iMac & combined television, a decent clock radio that also acted as an iPhone dock too. The kitchen area was fine for cooking simple meals although it did lack something to measure liquids in such as a graduated jug which would have been very useful. There's a very good combination microwave so there's no need for an oven. The bathroom was fine too with a nice powerful shower,although lacked a shaver point, so if you need to charge your toothbrush you'll need to being an adapter. I have to congratulate the staff for helping me when I lost my wedding ring, although never found, they did their utmost to help & reassure me, it's rare to receive such good customer service & care. If you're ever in room 303 and find a ring, please let me know.

                                                   * * * *
                                                  2 night stay at this hotel was good value at £110 on a winter promotional deal plus half price parking with a nearby multistorey was ideal! Rooms were fully equipped with everything you could possibly need, lovely,clean and modern with two in one Apple Mac TV with comfy beds. Rooms were sound proofed well although noisy neighbours screaming in the corridor at 4am were so annoying, once they were in their rooms though you couldn't hear a thing so it was hard to complain. As for location, call lane was a two minute walk with a load of restaurants and bars nearby, very suited to couples. As for big groups of friends the main nightlife scene next to Oceana, tiger tiger etc may be quite a walk especially in a dress and heels! Overall I would recommend and would be happy to stay again.

                                                     * * *
                                                    I am a very frequent business traveller and now tend to chose serviced apartments rather than hotels simply because they feel more like a home from home and most importantly, you can cook your own meals rather than having to go out to eat all the time which is no fun on your own or good on the waistline if you are away 2-3 nights a week like myself.
                                                    I usually stay in SACO's but that was full so I booked into Roomzzz for the first time on a trip to Leeds. First impressions were great with very friendly check-in service and a great looking apartment with a lovely wood floor, big bed, big bathroom and a great kitchen - or so I thought.
                                                    I went out and got dinner to prepare then realised that the kitchen has no oven so all you can eat is microwaved meals so I wasted the money on what I had bought and had to go out again. Then, when I tried to relax realised the sofa was completely impractical, being a two seater leather job with chrome arms. Fine if you want to sit up like some stiff and watch TV but not like me (and let's face it, most people) who just want to spread out and slob out! Really disappointed! Great that you provide an Apple Mac but it's actually through the TV so you can only use one or the other at once.
                                                    So come on, understand your customers needs and make the apartment work for them. Style over substance just won't cut it! Back to SACO for me.

                                                     * * * *
                                                    I stayed here for one night in January whilst working in Leeds. My room was very spacious, huge bed, nice bathroom, living room with dining table and chairs, TV in the lounge and in the bedroom, Applemac and iphone docking station all included. I'd taken a chilled pizza back to the room and was dismayed to find no oven to cook it in but when I read the microwave instructions realised it had a pizza cook facility. The pizza came out of the microwave after 2 minutes and was cooked to perfection! The kitchen is fully equipped with a dish washer and even a washing machine. This room was truly amazing value for money. One minor gripe it could have been a bit cleaner. Apart from that nothing to complain about. Will definitely stay again.

                                                     * * * * *

                                                    Stayed here on business last night: not surprised this is currently #6 of 91 hotels in Leeds! Central, handy for the station, very close to Malmaison and other top end hotels so this is certainly not in a run down part of town or anywhere you wouldn't want to be found on an evening. Certainly #1 for value and presentation.
                                                    Friendly staff, very clean and welcoming with good decor and lots of kitchen facilities should you want to make your own meal (Asda is very close, or M&S / Sainsbury located in the station) or get something extra in for breakfast (continental downstairs is okay, but pastry / fruit based and not much wider choice).
                                                    Loving the iPhone docking station and apple tech in the room with wifi (no problems logging on). Checkout was 11am, which was fine for me, and reception kindly held my bags til later in the day.
                                                    Dishwasher complete with powder/tablet was a nice touch for any longer stays, although a laundry tablet/gel for the washing machine would have been the ultimate nice touch as I did bring my running gear and a quick wash would have been handy, but not essential.
                                                    Will be checking out their other places in Newcastle and Manchester, especially if staying for more than one night, but one night was great!

                                                     * * *

                                                    I chose a balcony room as I thought I would be able to smoke on it but when I got their I realised you couldn't and I hadn't noticed that information on the website. I couldn't fault the apartment for decor and facilities although we found it very warm for trying to sleep. It was only set to 16 degrees but it was far too warm. Also when I asked if we could have a late check out of 12 instead of 11 and in my many years experience I have never had a problem with any hotel granting this request if they are not full (which Roomz wasn't by a long way) but they would only do it if I paid £10 extra. I believe they operate a similar policy for early check in. I think this is money grabbing and it would put me off using the hotel again.

                                                     * * * *
                                                    Following a charming stay at Roomzzz Leeds city West last year I chose a more central location to hold my annual birthday celebrations in my favourite northern city. As there were 4 of us originally, I chose a Maxima 2 bedroomed apartment at Roomzzz Leeds City on Swinegate for £135 rather than two hotel rooms which may have not only been costlier, but minus all the mod cons such as IMac pc, kitchenette and full size fridge freezer. I also opted for the early check in option for an additional £10 which allowed us to check in from 1pm and relax.
                                                    We were greeted on arrival after a short wait in reception by a polite and courteous receptionist who checked us in swiftly and advised us that our apartment was on the top floor and as I requested, was a quieter room with two balconies. Upon arrival in our apartment it appeared rather compact for a two bedroomed option, but beautifull decorated and clean and the two large balconies more than made up for the lack of space. They would be lovely in the warmer summer months! After having a few initial problems with opening the balcony doors, we took pictures of a lovely sunset and had a little drink looking over the rooftops.
                                                    The receptionist seemed to be helpful in all aspects-when the balcony doors would'nt open she kindly came up to the room to assist, and again a little later when we could'nt get sound on the tv. I also had an issue with the cost of the room, as I was entitled to a small discount being a Silver Roomzzz card holder however this was quickly adjusted for me.
                                                    The night staff were doubled and we were greeted by two men on reception on our way out for the evening and again on our return. It felt good to know this being three women alone in our apartment.
                                                    Throughout the night the street directly below our apartment was subject to some ridiculous and rather unnecessary noise in the early hours. This consisted of constant beeping of car horns continuously for well over an hour and the obligatory rowdy Saturday night fight, plus a siren-presumably from a Police van. The latter two cannot be helped obviously as thats Saturday evenings for you-but why the constantant sounding of horns in the early hours? This is no fault of Roomzzz, but if our room was quieter-as I requested then what must the others be like? There were families with children in the neighbouring rooms who were obviously subjected to the same levels of noise which is concerning.
                                                    The hot drinks at reception were complimentary to all guests which is also very good as it saves us having to boil the kettle in the apartment and bring our own tea bags etc. We certainly smelt the complimentary continental breakfast early in the morning but could'nt quite bear eating pastries! They seemed to be enjoyed by the various guests checking out as we left though!
                                                    Overall, a nice stay but I would certainly avoid staying on a Saturday evening in the near future-I value my sleep far too much! I would happily forego a room with a balcony for a room at the back of the building to avoid this ridiculous noise (if such rooms exist?) in the future. This is an awful shame as the concept is fabulous and for the cost there is no competition. But if like me, you are a light sleeper or are easily disturbed by noise you are best to look at staying elsewhere.

                                                     * * * *
                                                    My first stay here and I was most impressed. I asked for and got a studio room on the top floor, as they have balconies and are furthest away from street noise. The double glazed sliding windows ment that I was not bothered at all from the busy street four floors below. Nor was I bothered by any noise within the apartment block (but see below!).
                                                    The apartment room was very clean and well equipped. I was pleasantly surprised to find that, unlike most serviced apartments, it was cleaned every day. Kitchen facilities as extensive as you would expect to find in a larger serviced apartment.
                                                    The complimentary phone calls, light breakfasts and all-day quality hot drinks machine were a thoughtful and welcome bonus. The very friendly and helpful staff on reception made a good stay really memorable. None of this silly "show photo ID to prove who you are" nonsense, just a credit card swipe to cover any breakages - understandable.
                                                    Negative points? Just a couple - first, the water in the bathroom tap needed to be hotter. Second, THE HUM! The fuse box on the wall just inside the door emitted a continuous and noticeable hum, just enough to be a bit irritating at night until you got used to it. Apparently, there is nothing that can be done about it, so light sleepers beware.
                                                    Rates here vary a lot, from day to day. Check internet rates with the likes of booking.com before making a reservation.

                                                     * * * *
                                                    Very cheap, clean accommodation. We were only in Leeds for one night and this was absolutely perfect! The staff were very friendly and helpful and the breakfast was great if you needed a grab-and-go breakfast. There was parking right across the street and a convenience store nearby, so it was ideal for all of our road trip needs.
                                                    The only negative was perhaps the size of the bed, which seemed a bit small for a double. It's okay for a tiny person like me, but a bit of an issue for a 6 foot 3 giant like my fiancee!

                                                     *
                                                    I reserved what I thought was a good rate at this hotel for a studio apartment on a Saturday night of £55 for a trip to Leeds to meet up with friends. The standard rate is £99. I wasn't feeling great on the day so I did actually want to cancel this on the morning of the stay which I thought was fine according to the terms and conditions, but apparently this was a promotional rate and non-refundable. This irked me from the start as my confirmation e-mail didn't state this was non-refundable, so I turned up. The hotel is in Leeds city centre so obviously the location is good and its opposite the excellent Q Park Criterion Place car park that I like to use as well. The reception has pretty standard Travelodge/Premier Inn style decor. Service at reception was fine. The studio apartment itself was of an odd shape and dimly lit. The poor quality, soft double bed was shoved up against a wall in a corner so not great for two people, so would only recommend the studio apartment for one. The room was sparsely decorated in cheap modern furniture, in some attempt to make it look remotely fashionable. The floor was covered in a dark wood effect lino that either had not been laid correctly or was now being dislodged as it was full of bubbles. Oh the glamour!! The kitchen had a Smeg microwave and hob and fridge and the room had an iMac, token really and pointless when the rest of the room was of such low quality, because I wouldn't have wanted to spend any time in it!! The cheap kitchen worktop had been damaged by a previous guest and a hot pan. The bathroom was adequate with a white suite and very cheap toiletries. It would have been acceptable to crash in had I felt OK but I just wanted to go home as I felt ill and at £55, I didn't feel particularly robbed. For £99 a night, its woefully low quality. I should imagine the "Grab and Go" breakfast is like the rest of the hotel. I wasn't offered the discount parking at Q Park on leaving - thanks! There are many better value and higher quality options in Leeds. The discount hotel market such as Travelodge/Premier Inn/Roomzzz are really getting ideas and prices above their station!

                                                     * * *

                                                    We have been spoilt by staying at the Manchester Roomzzz so often so were disappointed on arriving in the lobby and apartment. There was nothing wrong with it and it was large,well equipped and clean and perfect for a business trip. It just wasn't luxurious or inviting. The floors are wood effect other than the bedroom and the settees hard modern leather with no ambient lighting it felt masculine brown and lacking in warmth. The space is brilliant it just needs softening. There was no view. We tried to change room but they said it would not be possible until the next day. The manager the next day made no attempt to discuss our request so felt invisible as guests. Parking is subsidised across the road in the Q park.

                                                     * * * *

                                                    I stayed here as part of a hen do group from 21st - 23rd of September.
                                                    The apartments were way, way above the standard we paid for. We were in a brilliant location, which meant we had no need for taxis during the day or night.
                                                    In the lobby there was complimentary breakfast snacks such as pastries, fruit, tea and coffee should you want it.
                                                    The apartment itself also was great quality. a lot more spacious than we expected, with everything should you not want too leave the room. There was all you kitchen white goods, including dish and clothes washing machines. There was also an ironing board and iron should you need it. The bathroom was clean modern and had an amazing shower which my friends and I loved. We also had an I Mac and free WiFi, again something we did not expect on such a reasonable price.
                                                    There is no parking at the aparthotels, however there is a Q Park literally a minutes walk away which you can obtain a half price voucher for at the hotel. (For 2 nights we paid 17.50 in total).
                                                    The one thing which has stopped me giving this place a full 5 out of 5 was the second bedroom. The master was lovely, and had a massive bed, flat screen telly, IPod dock, alarm clock etc, etc. Yet the second, smaller room had very creaky uncomfortable bunk beds...and it put my back out on the second night. This though, would not stop me from booking into there again.

                                                     * * * *

                                                    Stayed just the one night the other day during my fortnight in leeds.
                                                    Loved this place, nice airy rooms, genuine staff (rare you get that nowadays), great location to central everything, only couple of issues i have was the internet at times slowed down, there was one occasion about 6pm where it didnt work for two hours.
                                                    Also, it was a bit noisy at 11pm/12 pm at night when the groups were coming back, but apart from that the stay was great, nice and enjoyed it!

                                                    Would definatly stay again! i give this 4 our of 5

                                                     * * * *

                                                    I stay in Roomzzz, Leeds City generally one week a month whilst I visit our head office. For the business traveller, I've got to say that this apartment hotel is a much better better than hotel living if you're on an extended stay.
                                                    Roomzzz had a couple of levels of room, the basic 'bedsit' style apartment, a 1 bedroomed apartment and a suite up from that. I've stayed in both the bedsits and the 1 bedroomed apartment. The bedsit styles are a decent size room with queen size bed, work desk that has a TV that doubles as the monitor for a mini Mac computer. A small living area has a two-seater sofa, chair and coffee table. Kitchette sports microwave/oven, hob, fridge/freezer and dishwasher. It also helpfully has all the basic pots, pans and cutlery you'll need and the staff leave dishwasher tablets, washing up liquid as well as the coffee and tea facilities you'd expect in a hotel. Bathrooms have a power shower and are supplied with towels and toiletries. The decor is modern - lots of dark wood, glass and chrome.
                                                    As these are apartments there is no breakfast room, but a 'breakfast to go' area downstairs that gets stocked with fresh croissants, Danish pastries and fruit each morning. There is also a little shop area where you can buy emergency supplies of frozen ready meals, wine, milk and snacks.
                                                    During all my stays the only issue I've had was a rather noisy group in the next couple of apartments talking/laughing loudly into the early hours but other than that in over 30 nights stay at Roomzzz I've never had any problems and the reception staff are a delight - polite, friendly and always welcoming to the returning faces.
                                                    For me on business, I find Roomzzz a godsend because in the says where expense accounts aren't unlimited, it's extremely handy to pop along to the M&S Food or Sainsburys down the road in the train station and get supplies to cook back at the apartment.
                                                    The one tip I would pass on is to try and secure an apartment at the back of the building as the road it's on is on a very busy road and therefore quite noisy in the morning. Not a problem if you're getting up to go to work, but if you're on a leisure trip and fancy a lay-in then it may be a pain.

                                                     * * * * *

                                                    We stayed at Leeds City Roomzz for 5 nights over the bank holiday weekend. The room itself was tastefully decorated with all mod cons: Fridge, Washing Machine, Hob, Microwave, Flat Screen TV etc. and the bed was very comfy. The shower was spacious as was the rest of the bathroom. The cleaners came in every day and also changed the towels and tea towels daily. All the reception staff and cleaners were very pleasant and polite.
                                                    The first night passed without incident but in the early hours of Saturday morning we were woken by the sound of the fire alarm going off. As we made our way downstairs (from the 4th Floor) we came across another guest who told us the alarm had gone off because someone had burnt a pizza in the microwave, with this, we made our way upstairs only for the alarm to go off again, this happened intermittently for about ½ hour, apparently the reception staff had difficulty in resetting the alarm.
                                                    Early on Monday evening we returned to Roomzz after an afternoons shopping, as we walked into reception, I slipped on the wet tiled floor and suffered bruising to my left cheek. I got up and went to our room as quickly as possible with a mixture of embarrassment and a burst of adrenalin.
                                                    The staff had placed some small signs on the floor, but it had been raining quite heavily in Leeds that day and there was a lot of water on the floor. The manager was adamant he had done everything possible, but maybe a sign on the door at eye level as you walked in would have helped. Absorbent matting could have also been laid out in reception for guests to walk on – just a thought.
                                                    The manager did not charge us for night of the pizza incident which was appreciated. Although it was an eventful stay, we would have no reservations in retuning to a Roomzz, but maybe take our own absorbent matting next time ;-)

                                                     * * * * *

                                                    A very brilliant time on a Hen Do in Leeds - the appartments were BEAUTIFUL! Everything you needed, and lovely and kind staff. 22 of us arrived there 3 hours early for check in, but they checked us in quickly anyway...the hens were thankful for that! Brilliant location..if staying as a hen do, would recommend Brooklyn Bar down the road. Free 'help yourself' breakfast in the morning as well...ideal for our hangover! If I had to criticise one thing, it would be the hairdryers...not very powerful. But, a beautiful appartment.Thank you for a fantastic stay...will be back next time I will be visiting Leeds! Diolch yn fawr!

                                                     * * * * *

                                                    at Leeds university. We arrived around 1.00 and our room was ready - we didn't have to pay any extra, maybe we were just lucky on the day. We were amazed at the size of the room and the facilities - washer/dryer, dishwasher, microwave, iron, ironing board - very well equipped. The bed was comfortable and we loved the TV which turns to face the settee or the bed. Wifi was a bit hit and miss on my ipad but there was an apple imac in the room. The shower was good (no bath) and everything was clean. Housekeeping was a bit haphazard but if anything was missing we only had to ask at reception and they were happy to help.
                                                    Breakfast was the same everyday but we didn't have a problem with that and we enjoyed being able to take it to our room and it also gave me chance for a lie in! Roomzzz is in an excellent position, only a few minutes walk to Briggate which is the main shopping area and close to The Calls for a drink or walk by the river.
                                                    We parked round the corner in the Q car park which is secure and cost around £7.60 a day with the discount from Roomzzz - don't forget to collect a voucher before you leave. We had a room in the front and had a view of the road which was fine and we didn't find any problem with noise even though we were only on the second floor. We found the staff all very pleasant and helpful.

                                                     * * * * *

                                                    I don’t usually like to give a full 5* but this place deserves nothing but. The lady who checked me in was extremely police and inviting. The reception is small, but was kept in splendid order.
                                                    *One warning they ask for a security deposit of £40, that up until check-in I knew nothing about*
                                                    The room was impeccable, even after my inspection I was pleased to find everything rather clean. The only thing that I didn’t like was the fact that the dishcloths looked well used and there was a wash sponge on the sink that looked like it had seen a few days’ service. The computer was a nice touch, the screen was large enough to see from the bed and the seated area; the balcony was amazing although I had a small one with the ‘smart studio’ it was nice to air out the room. I felt really safe in the hotel, I know I shouldn’t have but the balcony doors were left open all night. Bed was superbly comfortable, had a great night.
                                                    It was fantastic to have a room that has all the touches of home; the TV’s have a sound cap to stop guests having them loud. Bathroom was a tad on the small size; however that can be easily overlooked by the large size of the room.
                                                    Great location, not far from the station or the centre. Had a great time there, only thing I can say is that 1 night is not enough, I really didn’t want to leave in the morning.

                                                     * * * * *

                                                    Stayed in a top floor room after requesting high floor and balcony was great added feature. Got a fantastic deal and value can't be knocked. Only small complaint was how hot the room and corridors where. Having the balcony was essential to let the breeze in. It wasn't a hot day and wonder whether heating had been left to reflect colder days before. Anyway no big deal as had balcony door. But in evening needed to use air con which was a little noisy.
                                                    Breakast fine and service fine. Room clean and bed was super comfortable. Would defiantly stay again and recommend to others.

                                                     * * * *

                                                    My daughter and I stayed here for a couple of nights during the Easter holiday. The hotel is only a couple of minutes' walk from the shops, restaurants and the main line station, the only drawback being the parking. The Qpark across the road is pretty secure and the hotel gives you a pass to obtain 50% off the parking fees, but it would have been nice if they had had their own car park.
                                                    The room was spacious, with a very well equipped kitchen (including a dishwasher) and an imac computer which also served as a tv. The beds were extremely comfortable but there were no bedside lights - there were two downlighters above the twin beds but they could not be switched off separately, so I was unable to read in bed because my daughter wished to sleep and we had to turn both lights off. Overall, a silly lighting arrangement!Bathroom was large (I think it was a disabled unit) and breakfast pastries and fruit (f.o.c.) were nice. Staff (who seemed to change every day) were friendly and helpful.
                                                    The units reminded me of the SuiteHotel chain in Europe and were similarly competitively priced. If there were more of them (they are only in Leeds and Manchester) I would definitely use them

                                                     * * * *

                                                    This is a fairly straightforward budget offering, dropping the front of house facilities in favour of investment in the room package. The bed was comfortable and the kitchenette would have supoorted a basic reheat of a ready meal. The computer provision was a useful extra, although I had my own kit and used the free wi-fi. Just two grouses. One is familiar to fans of the Sheriff - the bathroom is a terrible place to shave with strong downlighting throwing most of the face into shadow. It's quite useless and speaks to a total lack of thought by whoever planned it. Would probably be useless for make-up as well but the Sherriff's Lady wasn't on this trip to test it. Secondly, the soundproofing is pretty good between the rooms but not between the rooms and the corridor. Midweek this wasn't too bad but mght be a problem if there was a party crowd - Leeds's gay scene is just round the corner, although this is not on the scale of Canal Street in Manchester. The Grab and Go breakfast is quite decent, although I wouldn't want to miss on a major Yorkshire fry-up for at least one day.

                                                     * * * *

                                                    This was my first experience of the City West branch of Roomzz in Leeds, having stayed in the City branch a few times over the past two years. This one is conveniently situated a shortish walk from the station - and walk if you can as the one way systems in Leeds means the taxis will travel greater distances to get there and you will pay the consequence! The room was spotlessly clean and spacious - for the price, given that you get a kitchenette (with washing machine), seating area and work station I don't think it can be beaten. Bed very comfortable and a generous size for two sharing, nice power shower, clean linen and towels. Flexible timings for accessing the room - I arrived early and as the room was ready there was no problem checking in at 2.00pm. Staff very pleasant and accommodating.
                                                    Only downsides would be the noise of the fan in the bathroom (or could have been the air conditioning) either way neither of us could identify how to turn it off and as daughter and I both light sleepers this was slightly irritating. There is a hairdryer/shaver combo in the bathroom but the hairdryer only seemed to work for short bursts before switching itself off - so took a long time to dry my (relatively) short hair.
                                                    The hotel is situated directly opposite Malmaison restaurant - handy if you want a meal out somewhere close by. All in all a pleasant stay and I would definitely use this hotel again.

                                                     * * * *

                                                    I stayed here last week for a couple of days as I had seen the reviews here and thought I would give it a go as it was a good price and the rooms sounded very nice.
                                                    I booked one of the Grande Studio rooms as I wanted a little bit extra space and thought it sounded like a nice room.
                                                    The room was good with a hallway leading to the main open plan room at the back which meant it was nice and quiet in the room.
                                                    But the room didn't really know what it wanted to be. It is trying to be an apartment as it has a kitchen with washing machine, dishwasher, fridge, dual hob, microwave and toaster. That is where it starts getting a little strange, there was more space in the kitchen cupboards than in the whole of the room for hanging or storing clothes. If you are planning to stay in this room for a long period then I don't know where you would store clothes in a nice manner. The fact there was a book case with ornaments on rather than a wardrobe seemed a little strange to me.
                                                    My bathroom was also a disabled wet room, which meant it was full of grab rails and seats and such like. Every time I walked in I felt like I was in a hospital bathroom.
                                                    Also they had supplied four of everything in the kitchen, but there was not room for four people to eat let alone two as there was no table specifically for eating at.
                                                    The Mac in the room was pretty pointless I have to say, but still a nice touch. The wireless was very good which helps as a business hotel.
                                                    The staff were great always helpful and very friendly and the grab and go breakfast had some of the best pastries I have eaten in a long time.
                                                    Location is excellent being about 5 minutes walk from the station and therefore the centre of town.
                                                    Would I stay here again? Yes, but probably not for a long period of time as the room was just not designed for a long stay. It just really needs to work out what it is trying to be and work towards that. It is a good hotel, it just didn't really do it for me following the descriptions and my expectations.

                                                     * * * *

                                                    Great rooms with everything you need to be comfortable
                                                    The kitchenette is ideal for making a meal, however it would be useful to have pkts of salt n pepper available .Goo size rooms with great entertainment systems.
                                                    This is my place of choice when I'm on leeds

                                                    * * * * *

                                                    My wife and I stayed here for 10 days in October 2011. The location, the room (smart studio) and the staff are all excellent.
                                                    One could not ask for a better location in Leeds city centre. It is close to the train station, bus stops, the best shopping and top rated restaurants and pubs.
                                                    The smart studio has a king size bed, excellent bathroom, a small sitting area with a view of the city, a very well equipped kitchenette, washing machine & dryer and a Mac Mini which doubles as a TV. The TV swivels 180 degrees to face the bed or the sitting area.
                                                    The staff are very friendly and helpful without exception. The housekeeping crew made up our room, bath and kitchenette spic and span everyday!
                                                    The property is built on a small lot and therefore the corridors are narrow for large luggage. The fire doors make your task of moving in and out a bit difficult along the narrow halls. The room doors close with a rather loud bang: so a neighbour returning late can wake you up. The wood flooring in our room (301) creaked a lot, probably due to faulty laying. These were minor irritations in an otherwise perfect stay.
                                                    Overall, we had an excellent stay and would not hesitate to go back next time.

                                                    * * * * *

                                                    Spent 5 nights here while attending a course in Leeds centre. Aside from the central location and reasonable price, the main attraction was the fully-equipped kitchen which was good enough to avoid having to eat takeaways or restaurant meals. The room was a nice size with a good TV, large comfortable bed, desk and seating area. There were perhaps a couple of "essentials" missing from the kitchen, particularly a cafetiere would have been handy, but that's getting into quibbling. Staff friendly and helpful. Only real criticiscm is that the room (on floor 3) tended to get quite hot during the night as the air-con was a little too noisy to leave on.

                                                    * * * *

                                                    Very clean and comfortable studio apartment hotel with all the facilities you should need for a pleasant stay. Can get a little noisy as on a main road and in the main student accomodation area. The breakfast a bit of a letdown though but not a big deal for me. You have to go down to reception to pick it up.

                                                    * * * * *

                                                    I frequently have reason to go to Leeds and have stayed in a variety of hotels but in future will probably chose Roomzzz. I had a large room (can't remember what it is called) but had a separate living room/kitchen, bedroom and bathroom and for £80 a night it was a bargain. There was an enormous amount of space. Two TVs, a Mac, fully functional kitchen, lovely shower room.
                                                    My room was in great condition. My friend's not quite so good. She had scratches on the floor and a broken curtain rail. But, this was a minor problem.We didn't have the grab and go breakfast as it didn't look great but for the price we paid we didn't really mind that we had to go to Bagel Nash instead.
                                                    My only tip would be to have a greater variety of tea in the rooms and to provide a coffee plunger instead of instant coffee as many people don't really drink instant.

                                                    * * * *

                                                    We stayed in a liberty suite and enjoyed our stay overall. The rooms were big and nicely furnished. The kitchen was impressive and there are some nice touches like the mac with free internet and the ipod docking clock radio. The bathroom was super clean and the bed was really comfy. The receptionists were really friendly and helpful.
                                                    However, there were a couple of niggly little things that stopped us from giving this a 5 out of 5. For example, there was a television in each room, but only one remote control (and the back of that was broken). The curtains in both rooms were dirty and the walls needed a good lick of paint - the wall in the bedroom had a big ugly chunk taken out of the plaster. The window in the lounge area was broken - there was a vent that wouldn't shut. Also, the grab and go breakfast is a good idea - but they charge 20p for a tiny portion of jam which seemed a bit petty when everything else at breakfast was free. Finally, we were given two tiny bottles of shampoo and shower gel for a two night stay - it would have been nice to have more considering the price we paid.
                                                    Having said all that, we liked the concept and would stay there again but perhaps be a little more aware of the things you don't get for your money.

                                                    * * * *

                                                    The receptionist was wonderful. I was thoroughly ill from food poisoning and arrived at the Roomzzz in swinegate leeds feeling like death. He was incredibly helpful and made me as comfortable as possible. He called the emergency doctor and checked on me throughout the night to see i was ok. He also rang my friends to tell them how i was doing. Nothing was too much trouble for the receptionist . I only stayed one night and cant really comment on the room except to say that it was modern and smart. Funnily enough, because I was throwing up in the loo most of the time , i did notice that it wasnt as clean as one would wish though I would stay there again because of the help and support i received .

                                                    * * * * *

                                                    Roomzzz central, booked on there website on the advance purchase and booked a smart studio. Firstly it has to be mentioned that all staff we came in to contact with were really friendly and helpful. The studio itself was great, well equipped and laid out with all the facilities that you would need. My only small criticism would be the scourer should really be changed after each guest as ours was well used and the plug in the bathroom sink when removed was pretty grimy I only remvoed it as the sink seemed slow to drain, but them two small observations did not spoil what was a great comfortable stay. Ideal location as well for Leeds City Centre. Great deal in place with the Boar Lane car park which is less than a 5 minute walk just round the corner from Roomzzz.

                                                    * * * *

                                                    Stayed a Sunday night for an early appointment on the Monday and got the room for £59. I like the apart hotel idea - it works well with a kitchenette fully equipped with Toaster, Kettle, Microwave, Hob, Dishwasher, Washer / Dryer in the room, plus a big flat screen tv and a Mac. Yes thats right a MAC in the room - WOW - cool for OnDemand TV whilst enjoying M&S food from Station outlet that was open even late on a Sunday evening when I arrived at 9pm. Perfect.
                                                    Staff were welcoming and having read a negative review about noise I asked with trepidation for a quiet room. It turns out that Friday and Saturday nights are the nights to avoid, and when I stayed on Sunday there was no noise. Apparently weekend noise is a problem for the Malmaison opposite too.
                                                    There is free wireless which bizarrely the password is provided wrong in the room documentation and you have to phone to get the correct one (one digit different). They should fix this. Also had trouble connecting from my PC but Iphone was fine...
                                                    There is a free coffee machine doing all coffee varieties 24 hours and next to it in the morning pastries are also free if you want them.
                                                    Reminds me the best of the US Aparthotels. Its strange that this concept is fairly rare in the UK - and a shame too - I would much rather go back here than most of the other "full service hotels" that you come across in the UK.
                                                    There was some noise from doors of adjacent rooms but I couldn't hear anything from other residents. I certainly would return - great value and nice people on the desk both at a check in and checkout. I would ask for a high floor room when I went back, the ones in the middle of the hotel have bigger balconies if you care about this. (I was in 407)

                                                    * * * *
                                                    We booked 2 nights in a Roomzz apartment through TravelZoo and we were not disappointed in any way, far from it....we really enjoyed our stay in a clean, well equipped, uptodate decorated and comfortable apartment. Our deal was a real bargain. We were unable to enjoy the delightsd of Leeds City as we were visiting relatives, but the shopping center was only about 15 mins brisk walk away. There was a general store literally just outside and a Pizza takeaway so everthing was on our doorstep. The bedside lights were not working when we arrived but were working when arrived back later that day. The bed was very comfortable. The room was a bit hot, but it is August and we managed to cool it down with a large electric fan that had been provided. Everthing seemed to have been provided for apart from perhaps a second mirror in the living/sleeping area. We had a verty comfortable weekend and will be back. Many thanks Roomzzz and of course TravelZoo.

                                                    * * * *

                                                    Stayed 1 night in a Smart Studio. Extremely impressed with the location, facilities and comfort of the room.
                                                    Aside from very comfortable bed and excellent bathroom the room had:
                                                    - Seating area including 2 seater sofa and armchair
                                                    - Kitchen area with fridge, microwave and hobs - equipped with everything you need, even a wok!
                                                    - TV (with Freeview) and Mac computer (which I didn't use)
                                                    - Additional desk area which could be used for work or as a dressing table
                                                    - Free wireless / wired internet (bring your own cable)
                                                    - Complimentary help-yourself breakfast - croissants, fruit and tea/coffee
                                                    Gave it 4 stars for cleanliness as when you look really hard you discover little bits and pieces that could have been cleaned better (but then I'm very fussy and think you will never find a room that is 100% clean).
                                                    Oh and the iPod dock on the clock radio wasn't working.
                                                    Overall though an excellent place to stay. Would definitely stay again.

                                                    * * * * *

                                                    Stayed with my partner for 3 nights to visit family before Christmas. Was slightly apprehensive approaching Roomzzz, as the Swinegate is a busy road, and as we'd been booked into a first-floor room facing the road, however the room was actually pretty quiet.
                                                    Check-in was very friendly and the facilities were excellent - clean room, the most comfortable bed I've slept in, a hot and powerful shower that beat my hangover into submission, well fitted-out kitchen, free internet access in the room and free breakfast - coffee / pastries / fruit.
                                                    Only gripe was attempting to cook bacon for a morning roll - the extractor couldn't manage the smoke, the window didn't open far enough to clear the room and ended up with the inevitable call from reception, as we'd set the smoke alarm off, though didn't lead to a full-on evacuation ! Bought filled rolls on subsequent days from the excellent deli next door.
                                                    Overall would definitely return, great value, comfortable, very central, in walking distance from the train station (though there is a car park on the Swinegate), and close to all the shops, bars and restaurants. Beats the city centre big-chain hotels hands down.

                                                    Hilton Hotel

                                                    * * * *

                                                    I stayed here for one night in October visiting Asda house which is 2-300 meters away. Rooms are good size and modern. Bathroom is very small with particularly small shower cubicle. There is a AppleMac in the room which seems like an excellent feature until you realise that it doubles as a TV and screen size and picture quality are both poor. I had room service: choice was good and quality was average. Surprisingly the waste bin in the room had not been emptied.

                                                    * * * *

                                                    Good location, right in the city center. Little bit boring style, but its may came from a hilton requirement. The only drawback which I have experienced is a long waiting line for breakfast...otherwise it is a great city hotel even for a long term stay. The sky bar in the top always full of guests and outsider. Prices are useable, however for food personally I recommend to go outside, there are many restaurants in the city.

                                                    * * * * *

                                                    Wow what a brilliant place the DoubleTree in Leeds was! We stayed there for one night last Thursday en route to a business meeting - I so SO wish had the chance to stay longer. The room and bathroom was terrific. Greeted by a nice receptionist and warm cookies. Great service and cocktails in the Sky Lounge - an all round good experience! Parking was challenging but once we found a space and forked out £12 it was fine. Breakfast was lovely but as with normal buffet breakfasts some was hot, some was warm and the dreaded toaster is either producing over done toast or hot bread but that is particular to many hotels not just this one - I would stay again most definitely!

                                                    * * * *

                                                    Booked this hotel after reading reviews and being a loyal Hilton customer...
                                                    Took my friend for her hen weekend. Room was fab with the Apple media centre, very comfortable bed and brand new shower room complete with lovely toiletries.
                                                    I do recommend cocktails in the rooftop bar - great staff, fab drinks with great views!
                                                    The only thing that stopped me giving this a 5 was that check in was a bit of a mare... long wait to check in (even though I am a HHonors member) and massive queues for the lift.
                                                    Did like the cookie that the receptionist gave me though…

                                                    * *

                                                    I stayed here for one night on business. Check in was pretty average and unremarkable. My room was on the 7th floor and fine. It was spotlessly clean and the bed and pillows good but not great. However, the free mineral water was very welcome. The iMac was good for printing boarding cards (they 'appear' downstairs at the concierge desk) and okay for watching the news but really not large enough for watching movies.
                                                    I had dinner at City Cafe. My avocado and crab starter was ok but watery but my steak was excellent. The service was good.
                                                    I had 3 disappointments:
                                                    1. The gym is pretty well equipped for a hotel (although needs a weight bench, for which there is space, and for the resistance machines to be set heavier so that they actually offer some resistance!) but its filthy. The water cooler was empty and absolutely filthy. There was no alcohol wipes for the equipment. This is really unsanitary. It's annoying that there are so many staff pottering aimlessly in reception (especially at the concierge desk) when they could be doing helpful thinks like replenishing water and a bit of cleaning!
                                                    2. The wifi is hopeless. According to the staff it's because too many people use it at peak hours! Obviously guys!!!! It's a business hotel in 2013!!!! It needs to be sorted.

                                                    There's a lot of focus in this hotel on facilities such as the ('footballer's wives' style) Sky Lounge but this hotel need to get the basics right.
                                                    I would struggle to recommend a hotel that isn't focused on the cleaning and doesn't have fully functioning wifi.

                                                    * * * * *

                                                    Had two great stays. Rooms good and service nice. On our first stay the very busy 13th floor cocktail bar put me off the hotel a little, but it was a lot quieter the second time. I'd stay again. Good price for what you get. even at super busy breakfast time they managed it well.

                                                    Functional but not comfortable hotel. Designed for men by men. Bad lighting in rooms. Uncomfortable furniture in bars. Usual rubbish lift music on a loop. Sport on all night on two screens in bar. Waited 45 minutes for 1st course of soup to be told they had run out! Cancelled main meal as getting too late. Wouldn't stay there again.

                                                    * * * * *

                                                    Although we live locally, it's always good to visit a place as a tourist. The hotel is modern, comfortable and clean. Our room was spacious and very comfortable. Although check in was a little hectic (4pm on a Friday so understandable), we were greeted by a very helpful and efficient receptionist. Both the hotel allocated parking and valet parking were full so we opted to park in the nearby arches which were CCTV monitored and at £12 for 24 hours in Leeds City Centre is reasonable. The only negative is the amount of time spent waiting for the lifts - quicker to walk up the stairs especially on a Friday evening when the bar on the top floor is fully occupied. Having stayed in hotels in London on business, this place certainly compares well.

                                                    * * * * *

                                                    Stayed with friends on a Saturday night. Booked king size room , however I really don't think it was king size , more a double , however the location , cocktails and clean room more than made up for it. Complementary water and Apple TV were nice touches. If you visit check out the skyline bar , amazing cocktails and great views. Will definately return,

                                                    * * *

                                                    I and my family have stayed at the Doubletree on many occasions over the years, right back to when it was named Mint Hotel.
                                                    We stayed in room 216 - an Executive Junior Suite on a Saturday night. I had originally booked a King Guest room but since we needed an extra bed to accommodate our daughter we had to change to either a Queen Accessible or a Suite. We had stayed in an Accessible room before and found the bathroom not as nice as other rooms, so upgraded instead.
                                                    The Suites are nicer than the standard guest rooms and very spacious with an iMac for watching TV and another at a desk for work; a nice view overlooking the canal; bathrooms are clean and equipped with toiletries, bathrobes and slippers. On arrival they had not put the extra bed requested into the room (message not relayed from the online booking site to the hotel), so housekeeping had to bring one up after we checked in. You can hear music coming from the nearby bar which might disturb a light sleeper but for us it wasn't too bad; the bed was very comfortable and I got a very good night's sleep.
                                                    My quibble with the breakfast is that within the last year they have changed the hot breakfast service to a buffet style affair, where previously it was cooked to order. As a result the continental has also been downsized to make room and the difference in quality is noticeable. There are still hot items to order a la carte but there does seem to be a conveyor belt feel about the whole thing.
                                                    There is nothing wrong with the hotel and it is competitively priced; the only thing is having stayed over the years it seems to have lost it's individuality and now feels very corporate.

                                                    * * *

                                                    Check-in was clinical rather than welcoming, and we were not offered a minibar key (although the minibar was included in the room deal). The resturant meal was poor - the food was dry, had little taste and was not presented that well. Breakfast however was very good. The room was good, very clean and quiet. The use of the Apple Mac computer is always a bonus.

                                                    * * * *

                                                    There is no doubt about it, this is a very good hotel. It is clean, modern, well laid out and a great location. The rooms are a decent size and are clean and well though out. The Sky Bar is a great venue and a must to visit.
                                                    As with most hotels, its quite expensive for drinks and food - but we expect that anyway so not a major issue.
                                                    The only faults I could find is there should be more information when checking in. We were not informed where or at what time breakfast was to be served and we also were not asked if we wanted this. We instead elected to have it brought on room service to us, a little over priced at £16 per head.In defence of the hotel though, the information on breakfasts is displayed in the room, it tells you the name of the room where breakfast is served - but not where this room is. We did not know where the restaurant for evening meal was and again, we were not invited to book a table - which we probably would have had we been asked.
                                                    We were also slightly disappointed that we did not have a double bed in our room - instead, 2 singles which had been pushed together.
                                                    All in all though, a nice hotel which could quite easily be a great hotel if for a few little tweaks.

                                                    * * *

                                                    Great location for hotel, right by the canal and near some nice bars and restaurants. Very close to train station which is very handy.
                                                    The hotel foyer was very welcoming and staff friendly warm cookie on arrival very tasty!
                                                    The room was standard, it had everything you need. Tv a little small and annoyingly had no tv guide on it. Bed was comfortable.
                                                    My main gripe with the room was the bathroom, it smelt of drains. It was big and cleanish, although the grouting was orange and needed a good clean. The shower was good when it worked! (it broke mid shower on my last morning!) the toiletries were nice.
                                                    I had a nice view of the railway tracks which was pleasant to watch and i didn't hear the trains at all unlike some reviewers.
                                                    Breakfast was fantastic, with lots of choice. The service was slow at times.
                                                    I had an evening meal one night in the hotel which i cannot fault.
                                                    Overall an average hotel but the location makes it ideal for a short break or business trip.

                                                    * * * *

                                                    We were booked with friends and we got an early check inn and were on the 6th floor with a view over the canal and city. Parking was a bit strange as we checked in and then went to park with the instructions that to get to the barrier and a colleague would show us where to park (this is under the arches of the Railway). Funny enough the colleague turned out to be the guy that had just checked us in who asked if we were staying in the hotel! I reminded him he had just checked us in 2 minutes ago!
                                                    Room was modern with a Apple Mac PC doubling as the TV so it was nice to be able to surf the net and get information on where we would be going. Everything you needed was there.
                                                    The highlight is the bar on the top floor where we had a nighcap looking over the lights of Leeds. Impressive views during the day as we did go up for a look over Leeds.
                                                    Breakfast was OK as a standard buffet arrangement. However, the breakfast area was constrained by the columns of the building which restricted the space around the buffet area especially as a large party were queuing. All in all a very good hotel but being modern it does lack a bit of character and friendliness.

                                                    * * *

                                                    Great public areas (ground floor (lobby, bar and restaurant) + rooftop bar with a wonderful view). Excellent breakfast buffet, very good location for downtown Leeds. Very average, scuffed-up rooms (nice bathrooms) which look as though the hotel ran out of money when buying furniture. Biggest complaint: full garage the two nights (Friday and Saturday) we were there, prompting a night-time drive through an unknown city searching for an alternative, using the hotel's really inadequate map and information. Overall inadequate "bang for the buck" - get the parking solved (or at least hand out a proper map with instructions), and add a little pizzazz to the rooms, and this becomes a nice a hotel worth recommending.

                                                    * * * * *

                                                    Used this hotel for an overnight for a business trip. Very hard to find fault - reception was polite and attentive, room clean, well equipped, well designed and had an extremely comfortable bed. My room overlooked the railway station, but I didn't get any noise at all - possibly helped because I was on the 10th floor. There was only a shower and no bath - but that suited me fine. The skylounge is a great feature - fantastic view (albeit it's only of Leeds) and an excellent bar with a vibe. Wasn't too impressed, though, that the barman needed to look up the instructions for my cocktail. It was a great cocktail, but it didn't inspire confidence!
                                                    Great choice of buffet breakfast, well presented and high-quality food. The Doubletree is now my preferred hotel in the area. I will be back.

                                                    * * * *

                                                    There are many good points about this hotel but a couple of niggly things just stopped it being 5 stars for me. We arrived early and found our room was available so were delighted to be able to settle in before walking to the city centre. The reception staff were very helpful and access to parking simple. Warm cookie also went down well! We upgraded to a King guest room which was very good and overlooked the canal. Unfortunately my bar meal in the granary lounge was very poor and consisted of very dry pasta and overdone meat. My wifes meal however was fine. We have stayed at many hotels and its hard to criticise this one on many levels ie room and service excellent but perhaps to corporate for me! Not the hotels fault but there seemed to be lots of stag and hen parties staying at the hotel, perhaps our fault for choosing a saturday night and being to old to not join in! Overall very good though.

                                                    * * * * *

                                                    Check in is a pain at busy times, often a long queue at peak times but you have to expect it at a great hotel... Sometimes
                                                    Guest services deliver outstanding service...yet again!
                                                    John has again done the hotel proud, it makes all the difference

                                                    * * * *

                                                    I stayed here with my husband for two nights as a treat for our wedding anniversary. The hotel was easy to find when we came out of the train station and we were there in 5 minutes. It's in a lovely quiet area with a few bars and restaurants in a square. I had asked for a high floor with a view and we weren't disappointed. Our room was on the 9th floor overlooking the canal and beyond over Leeds. The room was a good size and the double bed was comfy. We only had a shower cubicle and no bath which was a shame as I like a soak in the bath. The toiletries provided were lovely and replenished the next day. The tv control via the Apple Mac was difficult to use whenTRYING to change tv channels, we gave up in the end! No noise was heard from the room above or the corridor during our stay which was much appreciated, especially at night. The breakfast was of good quality lovely with lots to choose from. The only down side was the breakfast tables were a little too close to each other so trying to have a conversation was hard without others listening in!!
                                                    The main reason for booking this hotel was because of the bar on the top floor with a terrace outside with fantastic views of Leeds at night. On the Friday night we went up to the bar to have a cocktail before going into the city centre to eat, but it was so busy we got back in the lift and into the city centre instead. We did go up to the bar again later that evening at about 11pm and it was quieter. You have to wait ages to get a drink at the bar but the cocktails are out of this world so it's worth the wait! The views are stunning of Leeds and beyond lit up and sitting on a terrace is the icing on the cake. The bar is well used by many local people at night and is loud and noisy,which may not be to everyone's taste but we enjoyed it. Can't wait to stay there again.

                                                    * * * *

                                                    I have stayed at this hotel before both alone and with the other half, and as per it was a lovely stay, however, their overall standard has slipped. Not massively, but it has definitely slipped. Upon arrival we were greeted with compliments and smiles all round, we were checked in quickly and shown to our parking bay with ease. Moving on to the room, it was well maintained apart from a couple of scratches here and there but nothing out of the norm. Really comfortable room and the staff at meal times were stunningly helpful. One MAJOR drawback was the shear level of noise from the previously wonderful skybar! As a 21 year old I'm meant to be rowdy, but oh my days it was excessive! We were situated on the 8th floor but noise was still a problem, thankfully I hadn't played for a top of the range room!! This must be addressed by the hotel if it's to regain it's previous form!! Overall though, will recommend to friends and family for it's fantastic hospitality on our trip away.

                                                    * * * * *

                                                    I loved this little find, the rooms are not plush but contain everything that is needed along with some extras not normally found in budget hotels like a safe, an ice bucket and access to ice, a fridge, iron & ironing board and some nice biscuits! Oh and remember to unfold the mirror above the dresser something discovered by my sister after a couple of days!!! A small but well equipped shower room with a good shower. The staff were exceptional at their job with a special mention for Ahmed who worked in the restaurant and bar area! Breakfasts were brilliant as was the dinner we had EXCEPT it was supposed to come with grilled courgettes but there was one minute piece, about the size of a twenty pence piece! This was silly as the duck, which was cooked to perfection was abundant and yet they skimped on the veg...go figure? I loved the setting of the square and we counted seven bar/eateries in it and it was wonderful to sit on the terrace watching the barges and motor boats meander along, moor up or go through the lock gates. If you want a chilled out relaxing break far from the 'madding crowd' have a look here, I'd definitely recommend it!

                                                    * * * * *

                                                    During our stay at the double tree by Hilton Leeds we stayed in a junior suite and thoroughly enjoyed the warm welcome on arrival from the attentiveness of the staff as well as the lovely idea of fresh and warm cookies for one to indulge in.
                                                    Our suite 616 was clean to a satisfactory standard and very nicely presented, However there was a few issues such as the Bluetooth keyboard for one of the IMacs being uncharged, the carpet could of done with some shampooing attention in places and the cracked tiles that surround the shower tray could be replaced and made to look more welcoming
                                                    During our stay the attentiveness and level of service received from all of the staff we encountered was impeccable and I must say the service was slightly quicker paced than most hiltons we have encountered which can be very infuriating at times.
                                                    Over all lovely room and view, lovely staff we will be back
                                                    Thank you for a pleasant and enjoyable stay

                                                    * * * * *

                                                    Stayed here for a night away with the other half, very good location just off the centre of Leeds, but without the noise from the centre.
                                                    The suite was very pristine and the room service very good. The check-in warm cookie was a nice touch, and the sky lounge gives a brilliant view of the city. The concierge were alsoextremely helpful in arranging dinner reservations and providing local information (they even helped me get cigarettes at 3am!).
                                                    Only criticism is that I would have hoped for a better shower (its not bad, just a bit standard) and the iMac TV was not fun to operate.

                                                    * * * *
                                                    The hotel is nice, staff are welcoming, but lactation is a bit of a pain.

                                                    Getting there by car is an exercise in navigation, and getting from the hotel to the shoping precinct by foot is not the most scenic of routes (under viaducts or through back alley stair cases).
                                                    The rooms were clean and spacious although the feel is a bit antiseptic (thats modern furniture / lay-out for you).
                                                    Was a bit surprised to find that the pool and spa etc are located 5 mins walk away at the main hilton hotel... Maybe I should have read the reviews before booking...
                                                    The roof-top bar is a must see and the perfect place for a drink after a busy work day
                                                    Overall a pleasant experience.

                                                    * * *

                                                    My husband and I decided to revisit Leeds after being students there 26 years ago. We wanted a modern hotel in a central location and Doubletrees Hilton has been highly rated on Trip Advisor. We parked in the hotel carpark (£12) - rather tight but guided in by hotel staff. Check in was very friendly and efficient and the cookies are a rather nice touch. We had booked a Queen executive room on the 11th floor with complementary mini-bar for £124 including a full English breakfast. Our room was perfectly well equipped with a super comfy bed and excellent pillows, however it was smaller than expected. The bathroom was very modern, but tiny with only a shower and no bath. The Crabtree & Evelyn toiletries were a lovely addition. We had requested a quiet room with a canal view. We had a half railway/ half canal view room, but it was quiet provided the window was closed. The mini bar was well stocked with 2 small bottles of water, 2 cans of coke, a small pack of pringles, a kitkat, a small bottle of vodka, a bottle of fresh orange, a small bottle of gin, a can of tonic, 2 cans of Heineken beer and a small bottle of chardonnay. ( These were included in the room price). There are 4 lifts and we didn't have to wait long. We had been advised to eat breakfast before 9 as it gets busy on a Sunday morning. We went down at 8 and were seated straight away. The tables for 2 are spaced very close together and it felt like we were having breakfast with strangers. The breakfast staff were super and brought tea and orange juice straight away. My husband enjoys hams and cheese for breakfast and these were very limited. The English breakfast was good - very tasty sausages and there was a good selection if fruit and danish pastries.
                                                    £16.95 is quite expensive for a breakfast but in line with most other large hotels. Checkout was very efficient and I was asked if we had enjoyed our stay. Our main complaint about this hotel was the smell in the corridor outside our room. It smelt like wet carpets, although they weren't wet. I did pass on this information to the gentleman on Reception. Overall we would rate this as a good hotel with friendly, efficient staff but we weren't wowed.

                                                    * * *
                                                    Stayed here for a couple of nights and liked it's close proximity to the shops. I thought the rooms were of a good size and adequate for what you would want, but not many luxuries. We had a few drinks in the Sky Bar, which I would definitely recommend. The drinks were a little more expensive, but we enjoyed the atmosphere and the views. Staff were very helpful both in the bar and at reception, but didn't go above or beyond what was required. There were a couple of nice bars around the wharf which we also visited, and it was nice to be able to enjoy the weather and the surroundings.
                                                    Overall I would say this is an average hotel, as there is nothing of great note that makes it excel above some others I have stayed, but ok for a short stay.

                                                    * * * *

                                                    I stayed for one night with my 16 year old daughter for a shopping trip. On arrival we were allocated an alternate room as ours was not available yet but advised we could change if we were not satisfied. The room allocated was a double but we had booked a twin so had to go back downstairs, this was however dealt with quickly and to our satisfaction. The room was clean and set out well with a view of the canal, not a great view but quite pleasant (room 312, third floor). The bathroom was lovely with small toiletries and walk in shower. There is a mac in the room which is used as a tv also. When we switched it on it made a terrible sound so I had to ring reception who told me to run my hands over the keyboard which fixed the problem. We had dinner which was lovely and breakfast which was outstanding and they also did gluten free bread which was great. I would however warn you that if you want the restaurant staff to go through the diner menu if you have dietary needs they will charge an extra 10% on your bill which I think is disgusting, I didnt ask I just worked out what I thought would be ok. I am staying at this hotel in December with the girls I am booking the breakfast but are not bothered about the diner which you can pre book for a small fee, it is a set 3 course meal with 3 options on each course but with me being gluten intolerant I am limited to my choices. The staff are amazing and cant do enough for you, I did however have some difficulty understanding some of the accents but did manage ok in the end.

                                                    * * *

                                                    Friend and I stayed for the w/e 26/7 and I felt shall we say we were a little disappointed!
                                                    She had stayed before in a bog standard double and said it was much plusher than the executive rooms.
                                                    Good points.
                                                    An I-Mac TV, good room size (exec room) good views of the city, rooftop bar, slept really well, good aircon (tad noisy though), but its position close to good nightlife, the railway station and city centre. Taxi into a restaurant was £2.50 but back was £7.50 due to Leeds city centre roads layout.
                                                    The chocolate cookie you get when you check in - well many got it we did not.
                                                    The downside.
                                                    The lifts were up and down and up and down and did not always stop at your directed floor. This happened 4 times to me over the weekend.
                                                    I felt that for the price, it was a similar standard to a good 3* business hotel, which I suppose this is what it is. It seemed that breakfast is 1 set price, so at £15 for a cup of tea and a slice of toast, it is very expensive and hotels make that extra money from the likes of me. The room I was in was bog standard but for the price I would at least have expected a mould free shower.
                                                    Do not be put off by this, it's just of everything I had read, this was a very good hotel, so imagine my disappointment when I discovered just another mid range business hotel.

                                                    * * * *

                                                    My friend and I went away for a night in Leeds on the Friday 2nd of August. I stayed at this hotel last year for a night when it was my daughters graduation and found it too be a good hotel and very good value and in a very good location.
                                                    This hotel is on the canal and has some lovely views particularly from the bar downstairs and the Skybar on the top floor. We booked a room with a canal view also, so good views from there also.
                                                    The service at this hotel is good apart from the wait to check in as the hotel was extremely busy that night and they only had one receptionist on as the other one was on their lunch. However the warm cookie and being able to check into our room early was a big plus. The room has all the usual amenities an was clean and comfortable.
                                                    The wireless internet wasn't brilliant and I would have thought that a chain like the Hilton would have better wireless than this.
                                                    The breakfast the next day was average and I would have preferred grilled bacon rather than boiled.
                                                    The only other issue I have is that I left my iphone charger in the room and I have telephoned twice and left a message for housekeeping to call me back and I haven't heard anything. This isn't the best service to say the least.
                                                    I would recommend this hotel to someone who was staying in Leeds particularly for location and value.

                                                    * *
                                                    This is the first time I post something on Tripadvisor, I'm not a big fan of it, as it says the best hotel in Leamington Spa (Warwickshire) is a Premier Inn??? I'm sorry but Premier Inn are rubbish. And it's the same with nearly all the cities in the UK at least: Best in Birmingham is a Premier Inn according to Tripadvisor... It's just not (Hotel LaTour is, though). Anyway, back to the Hilton. It may well look modern if you check the other pics, but it is not that much (check out my own pics): the curtains had some stains on it (unfortunately, no pics of that), the table was dusty as everything else in this hotel (check out the state of the keyboards in the lounge, if you still want to stay here).
                                                    Oh, there is a Mac in the room! This is one of the reasons why i've chosen this hotel because I needed a computer for some work but it was ridiculously slow to operate and the OS was Leopard (for the non-geeks out there, Leopard or OSX 10.5 was launched in 2007 and discontinued in 2009), you'd say this is not that old, but if you don't update you computer frequently, it becomes unusable... that's what happened, they never bothered to update it so some sites don't work, that's not cool.
                                                    I decided to change rooms and I discovered a weird smell, I assumed it was the canal which surrounds the hotel and it was, if you still fancy this hotel, book a room at the 6-10 floors but not higher! The former Hotel bar is now public so every night there is a party, very noisy when you're trying to sleep...
                                                    The only good thing was the Welcome Cookie

                                                    * * *
                                                    Stayed for two nights as a family. Room rate was not the cheapest, but liked the fact you can an adjoining room for kids at ½ rate which means you are not all crowded in together.
                                                    Room standard, not much better than a Premier Inn, and there was only a shower in the bathroom. In the rooms and corridors that we came across you could see a lack of attention torelatively minor and easy to fix details in maintenance. Apple Mac in rooms a hit with the kids, so useful when adults need some downtime.
                                                    On the first night, aircon was not working in one room and couldn't leave window open overnight due to noise from rail station. (Note: when windows closed, you cannot really hear the station). Notified hotel and nothing was done until I reminded them the following day. We then moved rooms for the second night. Customer service was polite, but unfortunately a bit like dealing with an off-shore call centre with almost everything being ... I just need to speak to my manager, or can you repeat that please?
                                                    Thought the location was great, near the canal, with some small restaurants/bars nearby. Easy walking access to city centre (which is stag and hen party central) so that bit of distance probably meant we didn't get as much late night hustle and bustle as we might have had, had we stayed in the centre. Loved the Skylounge on the 13th floor, but again the location is very much reflected in the price of the drinks.
                                                    Good range on offer at breakfast, but restaurant very noisy and a bit chaotic. For once it was not my kids making the racket, but groups of adults comparing notes from the night before! I suppose on the positive, it blotted out the "piped muzak" that seems to be played in many of the communal areas.
                                                    Don't see the point of the "welcome cookie" (which was delicious) if all you have to wash it down with is cheap instant coffee in the room! Would consider other hotels in this area, should I visit Leeds again (great city) but would only consider this one if I could get a lot better room rate

                                                    * *

                                                    For the price the room was small and I expected a bathtub. More seriously there was no WIFI access at all. No serious efforts were made by staff to discount the rates given this major failing. The room was also scuffed and marked. The shower looked unclean. Breakfast was a free-for-all. Clearly the design of the breakfast area is meant to herd people in and out as quickly as possible. Probably one of the worst features of the hotel. I raised the WIFI issue with the management but was not offered a serious discount.

                                                    * * * *

                                                    The hotel itself is really lovely, modern decor with iMacs in every room! We were given 3 rooms next to each other, all with canal views as requested - which was great!
                                                    I missed the check in and arrived later, but was informed by members of my party it was all smooth. We'd dropped off flowers and champagne for one of the rooms, for my partners parent's anniversary; these were in the room as promised which was a lovely touch.
                                                    Only small gripes were that the fridge in our room did not close, meaning that drinks weren't being kept as cool as they could, a light was out in the bathroom, the toilet seat was broken (come unhinged), full se t of toiletries wasn't provided (shampoo but no conditioner?) and robes/shower caps weren't provided in the room.
                                                    We requested robes/shower caps and these were swiftly bought to the room. The light was also fixed very promptly when we pointed it out.
                                                    We slept very well each night, and didn't hear any disturbance from other guests on either night. Breakfast was included in our rate; I'd recommend getting down early on a Sunday as it was very busy!
                                                    The hotel itself is in Granary Wharf and surrounded by great bars and restaurants and the sky lounge at the top of the hotel is definitely worth a visit - reserve a table if you can!
                                                    This is definitely one of the best hotels on offer in Leeds and I'd recommend this to anyone looking for a place to stay.

                                                    * * *

                                                    We were a hen party of 11 and one girl booked and paid for all the rooms before we arrived. We arrived at the hotel after 3 and the check in process took over half an hour because there was no record of one of the rooms being paid for.
                                                    When we got to the rooms, they were beautifully decorated. We were all given twin rooms (apart from the brides who paid for a suite) and the only bad thing I would mention is that the twin beds were literally a couple of inches apart. They might as well have been a double bed.
                                                    The bathrooms were clean and modernly refurbished.

                                                    We didn't eat in the hotel so I cannot comment on that.
                                                    The only issues we had was that on our second night we were in fancy dress and decided to visit the Sky Lounge as a few of our other friends had raved about it. We got out of the lift and were immediately stopped by a member of staff who told us that we weren't allowed in because we were in fancy dress. I can understand this, however, this should have been mentioned on check in. We were obviously a hen party, all the girls were wearing sashes and the brides were both wearing veils. They should have mentioned this so we could have gone up there on the Friday night when we weren't in fancy dress.
                                                    We were then coming back into the hotel at around 1:30am with Subway's and other late night greasy food when we were stopped by a bouncer as soon as we got into the hotel lobby. It was the same man who stopped us when we were in the Sky Lounge. He very rudely told us we weren't allowed in as we were in fancy dress. We told him that we weren't going to the Sky Lounge as we were going to bed. His reply was "okay but make sure you don't go up to the Sky Lounge"!!! Like we were going to go up there with greasy food?!
                                                    Check out was a bit long winded too but we did leave it til the last minute to check out like everyone else it seemed! The same room we had an issue with on check in, had another issue. For some reason, only the first night's stay had been paid for not both night's like the rest of the rooms. A little annoying but the gentleman who checked us out was very patient and lovely about the whole thing.
                                                    A nice hotel but I would recommend that it is mentioned on check in that you can't go into the Sky Lounge in fancy dress.

                                                    * * *

                                                    My partner and I stayed here to celebrate my graduation, he had booked a King Junior Suite. Check and was smooth and easy, our room (1016) was smaller than I expected for a suite, but adequate for one night. It was also disappointing to find that there was only a shower and the fridge was locked so I could not put the (free) water in to cool it down.
                                                    The bed was very firm (seems an English thing now), but we had been drinking so we slept ok!
                                                    When we woke up then next morning we found the air con near the door leaking water all over the carpet outside the bathroom door. when we were brushing our teeth we also noticed that the plug in the sink didn't work (it wouldn't lift up) so the sink couldn't drain.
                                                    I think if we had paid half the price and stayed in a normal room these issues wouldn't have bothered us as much but as such, we didn't, so they did bother us.
                                                    We would recommended the standard rooms to visitors to Leeds.
                                                    On another point if you stay on a weekend, and drive, park at Leeds train station where the parking is only £4.50 a day :)

                                                    * * *
                                                    I was looking forward to stay here the bar at the top is lovely. The location is great and only a five minute walk into town
                                                    The canal and bars around are great
                                                    Reception staff and concierge were very helpful. Parked my car for me. And gave me great directions
                                                    Bedrooms. I had a great view looking at canal and barges and a pub below. It looked lovely. Room I felt was a little sparse. No tv. No soap just jars in the bathroom which I don't like.
                                                    I stayed in a king room. Lovely big bed. Mini bar that has two bottle of complimentary water. Free wifi. Very spacious. Desk area was useful
                                                    I had room service for dinner and this was very good. Well served
                                                    Yes will go back

                                                    * * * *
                                                    My husband and I stayed here on a Saturday at the end of June as I had been away all week and we needed some 'us' time. On arrival we were swiftly checked in and given a warm cookie each (delicious!). Our room was on the 11th floor with views over the railway but we couldn't hear a thing!
                                                    Our room was spacious with everything you could need for your stay.
                                                    We didn't have the breakfast or try the Sky Lounge Bar and our only gripe would be that there didn't seem to be enough lifts and sometimes we would be travelling up then down then up again to get to our floor.

                                                    * * * * *
                                                    Just returned from this fantastic hotel. We arrived a three thirty on Friday and immediately greeted by a friendly young man who had us checked in in minutes,along with a very delicious warm chocolate cookie.We had originally booked a Queen Executive room,which looked lovely but we received an e mail offering an E Request, for another £7.00 a night we could have a Junior King Suite which we would find out on arrival if we had been lucky.
                                                    What a huge surprise we got we had been given a King City Suite, complimentary.! I had on Facebook liked the hotel page and shared it also saying we were so looking forward to a long needed break for my workaholic hubby! This was replied to from the operations manager,with " have sorted something for you"
                                                    Naturally we were very pleased and not knowing what he meant we thought maybe a bottle of wine in the room, boy were we amazed to find it was this lovely suite!
                                                    Our suite was on the 11th floor overlooking the wharf, spacious living room,and bedroom. The bathroom had separate walk in shower as well as bath. Lots of nice toiletries too.
                                                    Complimentary wifi,along with a complimentary mini bar!!
                                                    Only had one meal in the City cafe, sadly wasn't very good, but the staff try their very best to sort out for you.
                                                    Breakfasts were Extremley good, best porridge I have had in a hotel in a long time. Plenty of choice of all everything anyone could want. Again staff very attentive and helpful.
                                                    Views from our suite and also from the terrace at the sky lounge are fantastic.
                                                    Only one tiny negative point, we felt the walls in the room to be too bland,deffo needs some pictures on them.
                                                    On the wharf plenty of bars and restaurants all very good, we ate at Cuvée again excellent.
                                                    Another very good point for this hotel is location ,couldn't be better,if you arrive by train it's a two minute walk,and to walk into the city only takes about five minutes,
                                                    Would I return to this hotel? Sure thing I would !!!

                                                    * * * *
                                                    Loved the location, situated next to Leeds canal with trendy bars and restaurants close-by but only 5 min walk into Leeds centre.
                                                    Hotel is modern if not a little basic, upmarket Holiday Inn Express springs to mind.
                                                    Staff friendly and quickly dealt with the long queue of people at check in.
                                                    Sky Lounge busy on Saturday night, 20mins to get served, a priority guest bar would of been a nice touch.
                                                    I liked this place and would be no.1 on my list for a return visit to Leeds.

                                                    * * * *
                                                    Can't say enough nice things about the Doubletree Hilton Leeds City Centre. Lovely, modern hotel with very clean room and bathroom. Tastefully decorated. Nice sized room; a bit noisy with the window open, but not so much as to be a major distraction and it was a nice bonus to be able to open the windows on warm afternoons. Otherwise, very effectively sound-proofed. The staff are friendly, professional and attentive. Located about a 3 minute walk from the train/bus station and within minutes of public transportation. Overall, a great experience and I would stay here again without hesitation.My only caveat is that the room could have used dusting, but theimportant bits -- bathroom, bed, closet -- were immaculate. Also, approaching the hotel from Little Neville St involves a trip through a well lit, but semi-scary tunnel; okay during the day, but I personally would definitely not take it after dark. If you're claustrophobic or creeped out by that sort of thing it's better to go another half block and cross over the open air bridge to the hotel.
                                                    Looks impressive when you walk in with very modern reception and didn't let itself down. The staff were very efficient and nice at check in with lots of information. The hotel (it was a Saturday night) was busy with a wedding going on and what seemed to be a lot of hen parties but staff were not distratcted by that!

                                                    Parking… we hadn't booked it and it was £12 per night which is a lot, the car park was full and we were offered a discounted car park 5-10 minutes away. As it was Saturday I parked round the corner on a single yellow line (parking restrictions 8am-6pm Monday to Saturday) after 6pm so it was free! Otherwise it would have been a right pain especially for people who need a little help are frail or elderly. Not a problem if you are going by train obviously as it's next to the station.

                                                    * * * *
                                                    Rooms (queen executive) was very spacious with a good bathroom - niggle point.. the soap dispensers have good soap but are terrible for dispensing it. The room is clean, bright and (on the 10th floor) had a great view, if you want your window open then I would suggest calling the hotel so you don't get the side overlooking the train station and ask for the canal side.
                                                    Fan of apple but the Apple TV system and monitor I could have done without - I would have preferred a "real TV" although it would be handy to work on.
                                                    Minibar was free with the room, nice alcohol and non-alcoholic drinks as well as snacks (we also got cookies - homemade - at check in) and there was tea / coffee available.
                                                    Safe was a good size and we got our SLR camera and iPads in with no bother.
                                                    Dinner very, very, nice and I would recommend eating on the hotel (something I seldom do) and the waiter, although working the section on his own, was fantastic.
                                                    Sky bar is a busy place and seems very popular but with good reason - great views, prices are high though. It is a place for younger ages I suggest!
                                                    Bed was very comfortable and a good nights sleep
                                                    Breakfast good and plenty of choice.
                                                    It is a sort walk from the night life and city shops and there are bars and places to eat just outside the hotel.
                                                    Would very much recommend this hotel - as I said just the parking and soap dspensers are a pain.

                                                    * * *
                                                    I have used this hotel twice with work so far; 3 nights in May and 2 nights in July.
                                                    The Good:
                                                    Central location, nice area.
                                                    Excellent nights sleep, bed comfortable, room quiet.
                                                    iMac for a TV is very cool (although hardly used by me to be honest!)
                                                    There is a Gym – it is better for cardio than weights and is a little small, but it is better than nothing! For cardio addicts, there are decent cross-trainers, treadmills, conventional and seated bikes around x10 in total. It was pretty busy in the early morning just after 7am, although not totally overcrowded, if you prefer peace and quiet, I found myself in there alone at about 8.20pm.
                                                    The rooms all have a safe, an iron and an ironing board - HALLELUJA! I am so sick of business hotels where you have to ask for an iron.
                                                    The barman who served me did a proper job. I ordered an aged Rum on the rocks, the ice was in proper square cubes (without the crap hollow bit that traps some of your drink and makes them melt faster), exactly the right number of cubes to cool it perfectly, and I was offered a twist of lime, which is very correct. I also watched him make a couple of cocktails very well. I know my stuff, and I was suitably impressed.
                                                    The niggles:
                                                    The “Sky Bar” is pretentious. No draught. Over £4 for a bottled beer. Weekday evenings, it has the air of a pick-up joined for the well heeled middle aged professional. They had a youngish guitar & keyboard duo doing very “nice” middle of the road covers. Guitarist had a skinny tie and a trendy cloth cap, it was very cliché. I much preferred the pub over the road for a proper pint and open mic night.
                                                    On my first visit in particular, I found the lifts very inadequate – there are NO stairs for regular use. You were often waiting for the lift, and you have to use a special button to get to the gym on floor 12 which is a pain in the neck.
                                                    Wi-Fi is not good enough for a £100+ a night venue north of the M25. I just about had connectivity, but showing only one bar of signal in room 607, and the data speed in the early evening is dreadful.
                                                    Breakfast is buffet based – good selection, but at £16(ish) it is overpriced and the service is 2nd rate. I ended up serving my own coffee and juice as the member of staff covering our area, although very polite and pleasant, was not attentive. He offered coffee, and 5 minutes later, still hadn’t actually come over with it. You can have poached/fried/boiled eggs done if you ask for them, but you don’t always get told this so it is a bit hit and miss.
                                                    The gym shuts at 10pm. Why shut it at all? It isn’t supervised so shouldn’t matter.
                                                    The shower gel dispensers annoy me, you have to pump them about 20 times to get a decent sized glob. I'm sure they were designed by an accountant.
                                                    Theres no light switch in the bathroom, only outside it, you walk in, the door shuts, you are in pitch blackness. I did this at least twice a day.
                                                    Parking is crap. They cannot fit a Ford Galaxy in the valet parking. It is a standard sized people carrier that fits fine in a normal multi-story, not the Starship Enterprise. I wonder if they could fit a (wider and longer) S-Class or a 750iL in there? Rather embarrassing if not!
                                                    The “non-valet” car park is not nearly big enough to accommodate everybody who wants to park, and you are charged £12 a night to use it. That works out at more than double the price of my most recent parking at Heathrow Airport, and is therefore a rip off. I felt that group booking 5 rooms should probably get me one space really. On my first stay, there was always a car park dude there, and the space we first parked in was reserved for us for all 3 days. However, on my more recent stay, we parked there the first day, then took the car to our site at 8.45am, returning at 5.30pm to find the “FULL” sign up and no attendant – but when a colleague enquired (moaned) at the desk, a space (not the one we had that morning) was found, and a couple of others were empty, so clearly being reserved in some way as the car park was most certainly not full. This annoyed me unduly for some reason - I like things to be clear, fair, and consistent.
                                                    Overall, I would use the hotel again, but will also explore other options. The gym is a big incentive for me if I am away more than a night, if not for that I would definitely try the local Premier Inn next time.

                                                    * * * *
                                                    Good quality hotel in great location, nice and quiet considering overlooking the main station, just don't open your windows. Homemade cookie on arrival is a nice touch, as long as you aren't counting the calories.

                                                    * * * *
                                                    Everything here was absolutely fine. The hotel was clean, if a little sterile in its decor. It lacked a little personality. The staff were very friendly and helpful and the check in process was very smooth. The bed was too hard for us, but other than that, the stay was fine.
